Club was reducing the wage bill, they wanted rid of his wages not necessarily him.

Goldson going, along with Borna and Lundstram was the start of removing systemic failure from the club. Tav needs to go next. We don't need their types to tell new guys what the club is all about. We don't need new guys burdened by the habits of anyone who has met mostly failure with few successes. The manager should be encouraging a sense of leadership from the younger guys like Raskin and Barron, Jefte. New standards need to be re-established and they need to bring it when they enter the building or training every day. The expectation from fans tells players that they need to win, the rich history of the club all around the building should tell players that they need to win and it should be required that they watch some videos of our best players and achievements when they join. They should hopefully be shown a showcase presentation as to what our standards in our best years have been. Then it needs to be made clear that we are looking for guys with the character, mentality and skill to take that on and meet expectations and they are entering to make a stand on the shoulders of giants. We need men who can dig deep for the badge. The likes of Tav as captain is no Gough, Greg, Amoruso, Ferguson, Ricksen. We need leaders with character, and a will to not be beaten. I look at the so called leaders like Souttar, Tav, experience like Propper that was meant to be a leader and I don't see it across the backline. The ones who are battling and trying their heart out under Clement are Butland, though his from.has beem up and down, because of a poor defence, Barron, Raskin, Bajrami, Cerny, Dessers is trying but not good enough but at least tries, Jefte, Kasanwirjo, Diomande tries, though again up and down form Sterling, Mcausland. Danilo, Cortes get a pass, the rest are not up to it. The manager doesn't know how to play to win regularly in this league.

Its not just now, our fanbase has been like this since we got back in the league. We sing the praises and worship dross like tav, goldson, morelos, kent, and barsic etc, then scream from the top of our lungs at how terrible guys like tilman, diallo and sakala were despite them all now being incredible players. Our fanbase just dont in anyway seem to be able to identify good players from bad, were too emotional and sentimental

Should never have played for us again after saying the game was over after going 3-0 down against Celtic a few seasons back.Was gutted when he resigned instead of leaving.

Lets face it, Goldson was not giving us what we wanted, so it was correct to let him go. Unfortunately we hung on to Tav, who also has over stayed his welcome. This, plus the fact that Goldsons replacement is actually worse than he was has left us getting desperate and looking at old players thinking they could have still done a turn, but the fact is, Goldson wasn't good enough.

Exactly. Goldson we should have sold sooner and took something for, the same with Tav, Lundstram and Borna. They were past their peak when they all left and Tav has hung around too long. All of them have shared good moments but their success was limited vs how much failure they had. For me they are not the types to be teaching anyone what the standards are. They weren't able to do it enough, to be torch bearers for others on those standards. It's a bit like paying a cowboy builder a ridiculous wage to fix a bathroom, then keeping him on after the tiles fall off and leaks appear everywhere, because we remember the one or two days it all looked nice. Then because the cowboy builder has been there for months, you give him more money to do your kitchen and teach an apprentice his standards. They are basically making out the leaders are the likes of Tav, Souttar and Butland because they are the oldest and have been around for a long time. Advocaat knew in his time when he picked Ferguson that regardless of age, the man had the drive and had no fear to demand more from others around him regardless of age. I wonder if it would be better to set the tone for a new generation and make Barron captain? Let him grow into the role. We need someone to take the bull by the horns that isn't battle scarred by repeated failures.

Sick listening to Rangers who can’t admit truth, did goldson stop Celtic? Naw ! He was a bombscare, put him in hall of fame way tav, get a grip and realize how bad these Rangers players are

Well said mate. Within his capacity and health, I respect what he did, and he did his best. However the respect and plaudits stops at that and the few successes he had. It wasn't his fault the club offered him 37k per week. I don't blame the man for taking it. We all would. However he should have been let go sooner, along with Tav, Borna, Lundstram, Kent and Morelos, while there was money on the table. It would have been better to take something and balance the books than what we did. The truth is we are back in the top flight, but we are nowhere near out past levels of standards, players or play. In 2021 we failed to improve in the way we should have and we are where we are. We have a board that unless an investor comes on board, has us riddled with debt, we have a manager that in any other Rangers generation would have been fired, but we can't afford to currently. The buck for me stops with the board and over a decades worth of terrible decisions and misuse of resources and poor critical thinking when it comes to strategic appointments, at almost every level of the club. They just expect the fans to keep pouring money in to support this shambles, with the size of this fanbase, Yv and sponsorship money etc, a wise board would have us competing well and doing way better than this, at minimum at least financially.

What you have given Connor... 40k per week and 1 league title..
@rangersnut10 күн бұрын
The person who was that desperate to hold onto him for 40k per week should never be involved in any major decision at the club again. Hopefully they have been fired behind the scenes.
