Not too bad for original 32 year old paint! Would love too keep it this color forever but unfortunately it will need a respray at some point. Maybe keep it the same color

I just got my hands on a 1986 Honda prelude 2.0 SI automatic. With only 50k. In factory original conditions. Some wear on the paint from the sun. But running great. I bought from a senior citizen who was down grading his assets. So happened to be very lucky to find it on FB market place. I plan to to resell it soon, maybe will repaint it and keep it's original color red. Your the first to know about it. Will keep you informed when I do it. Hopefully you can help me sell it. I will be asking 10k for it as is and more after paint job and touch ups.

Trying to figure out how id even go about lowering mine, i wanna run coils but idk if struts and springs would be a better idea since i have 4ws.. either way. Low and slow for me. I mean who am i kidding its a 32 year old honda with 135hp

Its all about that K series Bay-be 😃
@gaanii33764 жыл бұрын
yurunning mine has a B series 😌 same engine as his but direct injection instead of dual carb. I have a short ram but we both know that doesnt really do all that much
@Stancil12164 жыл бұрын
4ws won't be effected with adjustable coilovers. You will need to get an alignment, and i hope you have the 4ws locking tool. But I've got a 450whp 89 prelude that i converted to 4ws. And everything works fine as it should. Lowered on KSport coilovers
@gaanii33764 жыл бұрын
Stancil1216 huh, good to know! Just picked it up a few days ago and ive been told that struts and springs are the way to go, but if there arent any issues with coils thats gonna be my go to. Need to get that locking tool tho, again i did just bring this car home. Its still sittin high and lookin pretty rough. Runs like a dream though, when it starts i mean. I just wanna lower it a couple inches and tighten up the suspension, gonna find some rota shakotans or something similar (sucker for that classic japanese styling, especially on a car like this). Full exhaust, clean up the engine bay, i wanna find a better short ram than the one it already has (not that its bad by any means so far, just something i can verify the quality on and say i installed myself) trying not to plan too far ahead considering all the work it needs right now rather than the work i WANT to do later on.

Hey man, what exact parts do you need to actually lower the prelude? I'm looking to get one and want to know what I need to lower it and how much money I'll need for it.
@ConnorLee3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, just coilovers. Used for maybe $500, new for $950. There is a link to my coilovers in every video description under prelude parts

Starting a 3g build soon. I had a 3g almost a decade ago. Amazing car.... Got into 4gs 6 years ago and just sold my second one. I was gonna do a 1g legend coupe but i cant find a decent one to save my life. And to drop em you have to switch and mod stock top hats to fit accord coils n struts. Meh. Glad i came back around to the 3g idea. I have a prelude addiction lol. Your looks clean af!! 🔥

2 years later… but for your sway bar link, the little metal spacer, do you have yours moved to the lower section of the sway link bolt? Or do you have it in factory location just lowered the coil?
@ConnorLee Жыл бұрын
Hmm no I haven’t messed with the sway bar links. I suppose it would be factory location with Megan racing coil overs. What does modifying the spacer do?
@DistinctZombie Жыл бұрын
I was inferring you had all poly bushing upgrade, my bad. Reason I ask is (on the little sway link bars there are 4 small bushings, 4 washers and 1 metal spacer) I’ve seen people delete the spacer and others move it to the lower section of the bar link instead of having it in factory location (middle of link). I was curious if you had an experience doing either way since you’re lowboys too
@DistinctZombie Жыл бұрын
Supposedly lowering the spacer to the lower section of the sway link bolt allows for better sway bar movement when the coils are bottomed out

I’m in love with the 3rd gen prelude. I love my DA integra but I would swap for a 3rd gen prelude in a heartbeat. Best honda chassi
@minimanadam4 жыл бұрын
I want coilovers so bad but I already have too much invested in my wheel setup and ALL coilovers have a minimum of 1inch drop for my mini and with more than a 3/4in drop itle rub..I gotta run 205/55r15 tires because the 215/60r15s rubbed and they need the little stretch to pull the tread inside the wheel well over bumps. They are only 8in wide but the setup looks aggressive
@ConnorLee4 жыл бұрын
I hear you man, fitment and stance is such a gamble and honestly just trial and error. I think if I were to buy wheels again for the lude id probably change it up a bit with the specs. Keep grinding and you will get to where you want!

I wish I had a low mileage lude like yours, not even 100k miles on it for it being a 80s car. I got a 3rd gen with 345k miles on it and the whole suspension needs to be rebuilt from top to bottom.
@ConnorLee4 жыл бұрын
Oh trust me, even with 80k my suspension still needs a lot of work. All the bushings are shot just because of the age of the rubber.

Hey EM, how is the inside tire wear when you lower your car? Do your tires last long enough? Is it worth it to lower without camber correction kits to keep the wheels even?
@ConnorLee4 жыл бұрын
I made it it about 6-8 months on one side of the tires. Could have made it another 6-8 months had I flipped the tires but I decided to get new ones. I kept the old ones because i will still use them once these new tires are all done. The federal 595s do well with camber wear but bad toe will eat them alive :)
