i doubt it would make any difference. There are so many variables. Today's fighters all fight differently than even 4 years ago. Connor is older - age changes a man. Maybe his current style better suits his current body. Maybe going back to karate would make him worse. Maybe going back would make him better, but today's fighters still would beat him because they are not what he dealt with when he was younger. I remember Dan Henderson's style changed so much over his career, and it was for the better. I don't think Connor is anywhere near as smart as Hendo, though. Not in terms of fight IQ.

What worked years ago won't necessarily work now. Karate stances in an era when everyone is spamming calf kicks is tough. Dominic Cruz's once dominant style became totally useless once everyone figured it out. Cejudo hasn't found success yet since his return.

I’ll always be a Conor mcGregor fan, I just am uncertain on the changes until he can get some more time in the ring. Against Michael Chandler I think this is a good style for Connor to adopt, it will definitely help him although Chandler can explode very quickly and I think that hands down flow state Connor has where he can nail you with an upper it as he's jumping backwards is very effective and has more than proven it's worth but again someone with a hunger and paying close attention to the videos of prior fights would be able to find the holes in that game as there's holes in every style

Either can be effective. The issue will come down to his actual movement. Connor was effective with his angles, his timing, and his setups. He's now older and bigger. So his reflexes will be a tad slower. He's got a lot of ring rust and has been defeated twice by getting absolutely mauled by his opponent. I think his confidence is rocked, and it will show in this next fight.

I think his karate style worked best when he was at 145 because he had such a height and reach advantage. I think he was still able to use it at 155 because he had long arms and was way more agile, athletic, and much quicker than the division at the time. I think he's slowing down with age and the divisions he wants to return to are bigger, longer, faster, better, and more athletic. I think he would get beat easier at 170 or even today's 155 division with the karate style because of those factors.

My theory on this change is his reach. He used to be huge at 145. He did leave his chin up in the air quite a bit. And getting caught by Khabib solidified that. He relied on his reach and speed to slip and counter. The reach is gone. The speed not like it used to be. So he's adapting his style. I personally miss watching the Conor at 145. He was something special to witness. An artist on the canvas.
