Those very fine upstanding Connolly Brothers became, Co. Galway all Ireland and world champions of that most ancient game of hurling dates back to the time of Cú Chulainn and Oisin, as young boys we played the game with our own homemade hurleys, we were a hard team to beat, we would not give up, our games went on for several hours and long into the summer evenings, it was said by many that you could hear that crack of hurley sticks as they clashed over a mile in our little country village

It's a very different place now with the expansion of Galway city, although I hope they can get back to their hurling glory soon as a Doughiska man myself, I could say I'm a Connolly from Castlegar but there is no connection as my family are all from Tuam, especially when I'm no hurler haha
