She plays it so effortlessly! She nailed some of the most difficult pieces ever written for the violin, like that Bruch Scottish Fantasy! She doesn’t look like she's in agony, unlike Leila Josefowicz.

I think Sarah and VM are in the same category in technique. They are both very very good. but Sarah likes to over vibrate whereas VM likes smoother vibrations. I personally like to listen VM more. and her stage presence is so strong even without being sexy and all. Her face is sexy enough. Also I respect VM for being different and always tries something new with violin.

MrCarlsson86 Agree!!! you got the point! i love Vanessa vibrato, it is deep but not so faster as Sara, generally i prefer VM, only sometimes i like to hear that fast vibrato anyway Both are very high level artists

Guadagnini, made in 1761. I believe her parents bought it an auction when Vanessa-Mae was about 10 years old after the decision of going professional. Would you believe me if I told you she fell off the stage accidentally and the violin was broken into many pieces? Whoever repaired did an A+ job to say the least! The last appraisal of this violin says that it's worth somewhere around 250,000 Euros, but that was a long while ago. I agree about the lovely tone!

Herman Muda Yep, I read on wiki about that happening to David's Guadagnini, but believe it or not, it happened to Vanessa-Mae too. She recounted during an interview a long time ago and how much of a panic she was because she had no violin to play on and she had a concert in just a few hours. P.S. I did not know Hailey's violin was a Guadagnini. Good to know!

I only know that Vanessa's violin was stolen a few months before a concert in Birmingham, but fortunately it was found by Scotland Yard

Yes, she wore a microphone & transmitter except when she was wearing the yellow dress. Definitely had issues with the microphone during Toccata & Fugue, but they fixed it for the remainder of the concert.

Because she simply profits from less educated audiences. And I'm really not jealous of her playing, and neither nobody of my fellow violinists is.

@@violin3394 I'm certainly no violin player myself but I thought it was quite something that at 12 years old, she was invited by the London Mozart players to perform as their headline act in a tour of Asia. And she was the youngest person ever to perform with that orchestra. I also like how she combines elements of classical and pop music.

The most ridiculous argument that there is. "If you can't do it yourself, you can't judge it." So, only concert violinists can judge other concert violinists. You imply you have not listened to the Carmen Fantasies of Shaham or Chang - among several others which are quite superior to Mae. You probably not heard others play the Scottish Fantasy or the Beethoven Romance. Dozens of more talented violinists deserve to play at the Berlin Philharmonie. = Mediocre (she is red hot though in boots)

Fuera de ritmo, los grupetos o adornos, hechos como se le antoja, debería estudiar en serio, y hacer algo bien, ya sea el genero popular, o el académico clásico, y no una maza de que cosa no se sabe que es.. me causa tristeza, pues tal vez algo bueno de ella se podría sacar, si alguien la aconsejara o guiara bien, si es que se deja.., sería para su bien. la verdad, no entiendo por que tiene estos desubiques. Que confusión habrá en su cabeza..

Creo que tiene más éxito que tú, así que algo bien habrá hecho. Si no te gusta, no la escuches y si quieres escuchar sus grabaciones clásicas, escucha su Beethoven o Tchaikovsky por ejemplo. A mí me causa tristeza tus argumentos envidiosos y la confusión que tienes en tu cabeza cuadriculada.
