Just watching my old video back, is it me or am I talking too slowly? Try to stick with it, I think the info in this video is very important for anyone learning to drive.
@jonm50205 жыл бұрын
Speaking slowly is fine, it will help none native speakers who want to watch, and anyone that really wants it to go faster can use the speed up to x1.5 in the video settings. Although even as a native speaker I didn't find you to be speaking too slowly.

Thanks for the input, I think my more recent videos have an appropriate speed. Doing the these videos is much harder than I expected.

I don't think you speak too fast at all, it's just perfect, I like the way you stretch important bits with the tone of your voice. The video is packed with soooo many useful information, it would be hard to digest if it was faster. And even though talking speed is perfect, many times I need to stop to think what I just heard, sometimes see it once again and many times I'm just watching the whole video all over again. In this way it is with me while I'm having my lessons - and it REALLY helps, no exaggeration. I appreciate your sense of humour as well, the intro was funny, but related to the topic and made me relaxed before I've got a shock of my life seeing "olimpic system" 😨 probably it's easier than it looks on the video, but today I've been practicing on mini and bigger roundabouts and I've got enough... time for a chocolate biscuit I think 😂

i'm now trying to imagine which biscuits work well for situations we meet when driving. roundabout = wagon wheel (although this might be a cake, not a biscuit?) junction = digestive parking = nice emergency stop = ginger nuts changing lanes = twix (chocolate bar or biscuit?) or chocolate fingers work i guess motorway = kitkat (yes. the biscuit analogy is out the window now) traffic lights = jammy dodgers (back on track lol) bay parking = custard cream overtaking = viennese whirl crash = crunch cream, or chocolate hobnob i think i want to watch more of your vids and also eat some biscuits now haha :)
@ConquerDriving3 жыл бұрын
Haha, that's brilliant! Reminds me of an argument me and some friends were having of what defines a biscuit. Is a Club a chocolate bar or a biscuit?
@julyanjohns12373 жыл бұрын
@@ConquerDriving exactly! It's way more complicated than I ever imagined.. it's made me question what the definition of a biscuit actually is. I mean, a chocolate finger is definitely a biscuit, and you get them in biscuit selections. So in essence it's a chocolate coated biscuit. A twix is the same idea, but It's sold in the chocolate rack of shops, and comes in chocolate selections,. If anything it's just a flamboyant chocolate finger though. The only differences I can think of are the layer of carmel, and the size of the biscuit finger. Or maybe it's the amount of chocolate in the coating? What conclusion did you get to in your argument?

BRILLIANT as always but can we please have a 10-minuter on spiral roundabouts please. My 'local' is a spiral roundabout, with 6 sets of traffic lights, 6 exits (some uphill) and all with 3 or 4 lanes off each exit and with numerous 'Keep Clear', and chevron boxes and mostly used by articulated lorries and speeding white vans!

Hi Richard, I love your videos and they form the core of the majority of lesson prep for my pupils. There seems to be a general lack of double-mini roundabout videos on KZbin. Are you still happy with this one Richard? The diagram you've mostly focussed on isn't really a true double-mini, it's just two mini roundabouts in close proximity and it would clearly make sense to deal with them one at a time. In reality, well in South Gloucestershire anyway, most double minis are crammed into a crossroads at an angle to each other (not even a staggered junction). In this situation, you need to be looking across both roundabouts on approach and take a good look at the second when passing through the first to be ready for priority at your exit. It's worth pointing out that the signalling at these 'crossroads' double-minis is pretty much identical to a single roundabout and that the sign approaching the roundabout will inform whether approaching vehicles crossing your path will be doing so at the first or second 'disc'. The sign also informs you if you need to go around both discs, or just the first one when turning right, because they are not all the same. I realise I'm being incredibly lazy expecting you to make a new video Richard, but you are GREAT! Would you consider putting one together with a specific focus on linked double-minis located in a crossroads, taking into consideration the points I have raised?
@ConquerDriving Жыл бұрын
There isn't any roundabouts like that in my area. But I may make a video in the future.

I just keep thinking what if i am taking my test and my driving instructor tells me to go right at the traffic lights but instead of doing that i just go straight forward or left which is easier. Obviously this is just a hypothetical and i doubt anyone would do it but if you cannot get failed for going the wrong way it seems like you can make the driving test a lot easier. Or would the examiner fail you if you did this multiple times?
@ConquerDriving5 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't fail the test for going the wrong way, but if you were clearly ignoring directions they would terminate the test. It's generally easy to tell the difference between someone who made a mistake and someone who is taking the examiner for a ride... Literally ;)
