Correction: In April 2015, new national speed limits came into force for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) over 7.5 tonnes on single carriageway and dual carriageway roads in England and Wales. The new limits are: 50 mph (up from 40 mph) on single carriageway roads. 60 mph (up from 50 mph) on dual carriageway roads. The speed limits did not increase in Scotland and are still 40mph and 50mph respectively.

I normally drive between 5 and 10 mph within the speed limit. Depends on the situation. Currently learning. On my 10th lesson now and today's the second time I've been on the main road. Still lots more to learn. Instructor has helped me take it at my own speed.

It’s so right about “examinators disparity on speed on country roads”. On Borehamwood exam I was doin 30-35 on a quite bendy and hilly road and examinator decided it’s a major with a such low speed 😞

I am a professional driver of 32 years and started after decades of saying it taking my advanced driving test i watched this video before going out as i don't use country roads but a City of London driver and urban roads, this helped me on my course and got very good comments at the end of my drive. you will always be learning while driving no matter how long you have been on the road.

Hi Conquer , Dave a driving instructor here , love your lessons they are really good , Would just say one thing though if you sound your horn before you go round a bend on a rural road you may spook a horse, you even said yourself to stay quiet when going past a horse , if you sound your horn before a bend you may find a spooked horse when you get there
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 3 жыл бұрын
That's true. I generally don't sound the horn myself unless it really is a slow dangerous blind bend.

Thanks for that rural roads video and I'm sure it would have clarified what speeds are appropriate to the road and the road conditions. Do you ever use the term 'limit point of vision' relating to bend severity ? It can be helpful in assessing the distance needed stop safely on your own side of the road. e.g. Keeping to the left for right hand bends and towards the right for left hand bends.
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
I've never used that term but I believe it is what I do.

Do the examiners use tablets instead of paper in the UK? this way the examiner can show exactly how fast you were traveling(built in gps) on the road, the learner has a harder time contesting results however.

I found the road with speed limit around 40-50mph is more difficult to manage than motorway (70mph). Because you need to keep speed up & down & stop very regularly. I am driving an auto car and it takes several seconds to slow down from 50 to stop. Do you have any tips or video talk about it?
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you may need to focus further up the road so you notice when you need to slow down earlier. These two videos may help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnrcXpuJpN6fgM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mV7bgGejdt5lidk

Hi very good driving love every min of it careful but sadly people are not careful on roads , thats why i get so many panic attacks its because of driving or being a passenger with people who drive too fast, rural areas are ok for people if they like it i perfect to be in a city where I can walk 🚶‍♂️ and go on a bike any advice on driving panic attacks i don't feel in control when i behind the wheel, i get people tailgating aswell i do be doing the speed limits coming into towns and cars still over take
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
There will always be someone who is faster than you. I think you need to accept that whatever you do you will be subjected to a certain amount of abuse when you drive, try to let it be water of a ducks back and concentrate on your own enjoyment. Never drive faster than you're comfortable with, whatever anyone says.

Hey I got one question: If you know you have to stop on a traffic light for example whats the righter thing to do clutch neutral gear then brake and stop or clutch brake stop and then when u stop neutral? Does it matter?
@MichaelFlatman
@MichaelFlatman 4 жыл бұрын
leave in gear, brake until the engine drops to around 1200rpm, put the clutch in and then brake smoothly the last bit, and ease off the brake at about 1mph so it's smooth. If you are going to be sat there a while, handbrake up, neutral and then clutch up.. but this is not necessary, only if your left leg aches :P You shouldn't be moving in neutral, that's bad coasting.

So many new drivers do that, try to let your instructor guide you, you will feel like you will hit the oncoming cars but they are further away than they seem. Let your instructor show you where to position the car, maybe even guide the wheel for a bit and your brain will start to adapt it's judgement.

Which petrol engine do you have in that Seat? I notice it allows you to change up as early as 1900rpm-2000rpm and still picks up very well in the next gear. Plenty of torque. I noticed you managed to accelerate from 30mph to 60mph in 6th 😮 Not many cars could pull that off.
