Bots Are Stupid Part 4 - a quality send-off to the game. I code some impressive TAS runs, and rank highly on both the speed AND the length of code leaderboard! I've gotten my enjoyment out of this game, I'd like to move on to a different programming puzzle game in the future, stay tuned!

I enjoyed this game, but I think I'm going to quit while I'm ahead. This game had less programming logic than I expected, it was more true to TAS simulation. For fans of programming games, don't worry! I'm planning to revisit one of my favorite puzzle games of all time - Opus Magnum. It's a mix between programming puzzles and alchemy, certain to be a lot of fun.

I would love to see you look into a really hard (for me) puzzle chemistry game called SpaceChem. I think it's really cool and the puzzles are factory-esque trying to automate the construction of molecules. Cool ass game; I just wish I wasn't garbage at it.

Based on the pinned comment, we'll be getting Opus Magnum soon. Since it's also a Zachtronics game, I'd say there's a fair chance that other Zachtronics games will also show up afterwards, potentially including SpaceChem.

I‘d say it‘s because there is a smaller amount of people playing these games, than some of the ‚speedrun games‘ like Minecraft/Nintendo Games and more. Due to their bigger following there is more competition. I‘m not saying Tyler is bad at the games he is playing, but it‘s certainly easier to be one of the top 10, if there are only a couple hundred people playing the game.

So a guy that plays videogames for a living does about top 30 out of 100 players. That's not that impressive. I even cringed a bit when he accidentally hit the top boost in the second level but he just refused to hook down to get the last orb and hook up to fly into the goal and actually tweaked the last boost out of his program only to declare ten seconds later that it's optimised. He just made it slower.

On that second to last stage, I was really proud with 5.447 seconds, skipping the first boost and the last boost... But then I watch Tyler absolutely destroy this stage. --- So that's how you utilise the first boost... I tried it by picking it up and climbing up all the way from the right side of the stage (off the screen), then swing back around to get all the orbs, but that way i never got below 9 seconds

Awesome that you can place for code length and time seperately c: I would aim for code length
@rayandthejets
@rayandthejets 2 жыл бұрын
But with code length, there is always a limit, and it is always in set increments. For that last level, if 8 is the shortest it can go, then eventually everyone will have 8 lines and it wont be competitive since it can’t be improved at all. But with speed, you can always keep optimising it (well to a certain extent, but the point is that it is more competitive since you wont have the exact same score as everyone else).

@hugrobott
@hugrobott 3 жыл бұрын
So you hook and jump at the same time to transfer the vertical velocity of the jump into the horizontal velocity with the hook, remember to release it. The code should look something like this: move right-> hook down right-> wait 0.002-> jump-> wait 0.05-> unhook. You can unhook earlier to get horizontal+vertical speed or hook a bit later to get horizontal speed
@hugrobott

Ps: if you want to get even more speed then try to increase the delay between hooking and jumping, just make sure you jump before the hook connects

@@hugrobott from start: -tickrate 1000 hook down right (depends on which way ur going) wait 11f jump wait 50f unhook should launch you as fast as possible to the right from the starting position. for you to chain these, you need to jump as soon as you hit the ground and hook BEFORE you jump. if you do it right, the very next frame after you jump you should hook. you can change the time scale and check your velocity in settings if you want.
