A great damage burst is charging in and the moment you see damage numbers press the brace key, the charge does good damage and gets most of the unit in a position for doing damage

Make sure its in the dispersed formation or they try to move into formation without attacking and die

When the halbs are in the phalanx formation their hits can crit and I saw even in your video 4-7k hits max. Using the charge is a bit tricky because the unit will die fast when meleeing with the enemy. Best use case I have found for the charge is against half a unit who tries to disengage or otherwise tries to avoid you. If there is a fight going on its better to first try to brace in the midst of your allies (Like Evo did in the video) and charge when you are about to win the fight and/or the enemy is not in brace range. I learned to use the charge only because I went for the top veterancy line just because the phalanx brace was already insane and it doesn't necessarily need the extra veterancy bonuses (But I would take bottom line now if I had a free reset :) ). Nice I missed some of those crit hits so nice to see they can hit so high sometimes, thats awesome! Yeah I need to have a bit more of a go with the charge element, I kind of just ignored it and fully focused on brace. I'll have to give it a go against lower strength or half health units, try to make sure they have to stay in the fight and get killed by me :-D

Im new at this game, been playing for a week. I like your videos so much, the way you show each unit's strategies and roles, and when you F up too xD I wonder how much has changed, unitswise, since the time you made these videos(October 2019), because the hud and interface is clearly different from what is now. Glad you are enjoying the videos :) Certainly things are continueouly evolving and units get better and worse but I guess the general playstyle is normally the same, I try to sort of keep updating unit videos but there are just to many units XD

Halberds are micro intense, spear sgt are more use friendly as they have good def and atk.

Theyre a great unit. My build as a lv. 41 with wasted honnor on peasant bowmen and such is halbediers. Squires. Spear sergeants. Demesne spear men and woodcutters. Halbediers are also good to kill the enemys cannon fodder when they climb ladders.

weird my pike militia in battle does (even to silver/gold even a bit) 700-1000 and because their in tighter formation they hit with many at the same time and make up for higher base dam of halbediers (they only hit with a few) facing golden higher tier units give halbediers a higher survivability, but im still not getting rid of my pikiepikie militia

Do you have any doctrines attached to yours? I find I get loads of hits with the pike militia so it still kills pretty fast but most hits seem to be around 300 ish

@@EvoLozGaming 95 on units (blue) 85 on hero (blue) and green pierce dam(or it was blue....) and penetrate (either pierce dam or pen was blue) and i think i had green hp or green pierce resist so i have percentage wise a big dam boost compared to stock .... and i checked again today ..and vs low tiers i do 800-1100 and vs mid tier units 700-900 and high tier is weird... 400-900

I'd go top line up to strike power and bottom up to cold blood. They won't get elite but will brace AND charge with the best of 'em. Tho this isn't a recent video so you might have changed it yourself by now

Not actually got around to trying the vanguard archers yet but always felt they were well inferior to the prefectures

@@EvoLozGaming I have both lvl 8 and for me it's not worthy, prefectures are quite better for the same cost (not leadership) ...humble opinion here

They suffer from bad ai (standing still and shooting while you've given them the move and shoot order), damage is massively inferior compared to pref and fire archers. They should have been at the same tier as ironcap archers. Mine are lv 13 before i had enough and barely brought them anymore

I got myself the western 3.5 star muskets and wow I love them. One of my games I was on that star fortress A point defending parked my muskets in that corner where people often put shields halberd iets etc they got about 150 kills then died because they ran out of ammo lol you guys should really give them a try it's a solid unit really cost effective

Incendiary archers have a very good reputation and rightfully so they are a very nice unit, personally I've felt not quite a good as prefecture archers but with the range nerf to prefectures maybe they will become the best. Still need to do a video on the incendiary archers though :-)

got em maxed out, and short ranged when you unleash fire, they stop horses in their tracks and enemies drop like flies ;) (even use me more then the longbows i got)

Yeah they can certainly be pretty powerful at times! very vulnerable to ranged though
