So we are back with some more Conqueror's Blade as we revisit the Halberdier sergeants after I managed to screw them up last time! Hopefully give them a little more justice this time although I didn't actually get all that much time to play them :)

Other tricks with Halb Sergs -Doing F3 Formation into F1 and hitting brace quickly right after will make them stay in the condensed F3 formation but all will be bracing forward instead of a circle. Works well with charging in F3 into F1 Brace aswell.

This is my favourite unit. I easily wipe out couple of units and few heroes. I only use brace and never charge to avoid them getting damaged. Positioning them correctly is absolutely important.

They are certainly a unit with good potential, i sort of struggle with them sometimes but they are certainly a good unit

Since I started the game, I have always enjoyed using halberdiers. But not the sergeant ones, the normal ones. They can easily hold both infantry and horse troops in certain places. Some infantry (those longsword units that arrived in Season two, I couldn't remember their names) can attack and kill harberdiers when they use their special abilities. But if you let the attacking infantry take spear damage for 1-2 seconds and disrupt their formation, they can quite easily kill the infantry. They're a little weak with archers, but still don't take much damage if you pull them back from the moment they start taking damage. In the case of Horsemen, of course, they can do good damage against horsemen those are tier 2-5. Maybe can't hold all tier 5 cavalry but at least make the player think twice before attacking with cavalry units. Frankly, I can say that I use the "Disperse" feature, which you show in the video, at a rate of 20% in my game. I use more "Phalanx" because you can kill infantry more easily with it.

It's been a while since I played the tier 3 halberdiers but I do remember enjoying them at the time, I think they can still work well in phalanx but the downside is that you take quite a long time to set up and require the enemy to push into your unit rather than you being on the offensive and pushing into the enemy unit

I think holding V and giving them an attack move will position them better for when you brace them, the moment you see damage numbers pop up you brace

While the halberdier sergeants can be good, I feel like it's a case of, "Whatever you can do I can do better" in terms of T4 pike units. If you're looking for brace damage, the Fortebraccios far outshine the halberdiers, and if you're looking for clearing out shieldwalls and taking points, the halberdiers once again get completely stomped by Imperial Pike Guard. In addition, the Imperial Pike Guard and Fortebraccios can provide great counters to units like Iron Reapers, Winged Hussars, and other very dominant T5 units. I don't think I'm going to get these halberdiers any time soon, but please let me know if I'm wrong.

You know what halbs excel in that fettuccines and imperial pikes will never have? Speed. They can react to situations much faster and fluidly than either of the other T4 pike units. That said, of course they lose in a numbers game of damage output or sheer crowd control, but they will do very will in most any situation, whether holding a choke point or charging a capture point. They bring flexibility where the other pike units struggle. They also do fine against iron Reapers and most cav with the exception of Hussars, because their attacks do stun, and do hit 2 units with each jab.

Yeah I think @ethan is correct the main advantage of Halb sgts is there speed and they can instantly brace no matter what formation they are in, compared to fortebraccios who are slow and take time to form up. Of course fortebraccios outclass the halb sgts once they are set up and probobly are the better unit overall but halb sgts can still be decent :)

Remember you can quite easily change weapon so don't stress to much about which class you pick :)

I think as a new player probobly not a unit i'd go for and instead yeah imp pikes are better. Hmm tough one, neither are amazing at the moment, reapers for charge damage and tankiness, silahdars for higher melee damage output

Imperial archers are kind of comparable to a musket unit. High damage+pen, okay range but nothing crazy. Imperial archers have the benefit of being very accurate but more squishy compared to muskets. Longbows have incredibly long range and good accuracy so are really good at picking off other archers, or muskets or Xbows in the back line, while being safe doing it. The two units are really as different as could be, and aren't really comparable.

I think it's middle line (but not ingame at the moment) but the ending of the veterancy line should give like double strike where they can hit 2 soldiers with 1 swing

I like using them against t5 cav so that the enemy team will get mad and cry for losing and wasting t5 cav over a t3 or t4 spear unit

Palace Guards! Offensive veterancy

The azaps just crush them, now therw is no reason to use palace guards, just like the prefecture guards (condottieri)

I spent months with palacr guards. They are thrash and useless if you use them as attackers. Tseregs,manatarms,condottieries and and azaps destroys them and even prefecture guards overwhelm them sometimes. Real trick in them is they are perfect for tanking hero damage and very good frontliners. In composition that they are the tank and you are the source of dps you will destroy enemy unless bracing units,fortes and imp pike charge.Playing them with maul glaive etc will make them perform their best.

They need better veterancy and shield bash,regeneration or covercommander atleast people started to play palaces once again in sieges.
