Did ancient flame throwers like this actually historically exist? Serious question.

i did some digging month ago, so the device is like a pump, that pumps out ignitable oil, while the front of the device has a fire that will ignite the oil. While there are ancient documents that describe they exist, but the device itself did not survive to be proven true. but if you are talking about the historically accurate of effective range of the flamethrower, definitely not

nice montage and my next question are why do you always use the 1 skill first?

it's very much depending on what you are trying to achieve skill 2 is a slow moving flame that travel in a straight line and setting the ground on fire regardless of where's the gravity is at, and ignore gravity, it's great for stunning a blob of enemy units, dealing with incoming cav charges, buy time for retreat skill 1 is the main dps of siphonariori units, while on the paper it seems very easy to use, there's a lot of stuff that comes into play with it. if you aim at the flat ground in front of siphonariori, they will shoot in a very normal way, that could burn up to 5 to 10m or so, but if you aim at a wall or a celling, there's where the trick comes into play. too high they overshoot the units, too low, they may just shoot straight into the ground, there's time where you try to aim at the very tip of a building or terrain, ended up shooting straight into the ground, because you have clicked the sky, and the game would treat this at clicking at the max range you could aim at, from your personal fov, and that's about 200m away from you, and usually bottom of the map, and that's why they shoot straight into the ground. The further the object you are using to aim, the higher you are aiming at. It's a very tricky skill to master, but once you learnt it properly, the rewards are worthwhile. I be probably releasing anothe flame montage in a month or so :p (edit - i forgot to answer what you ask) The reason why i often use Skill 1 over Skill 2, is because of the surprise element im trying to inflict on the enemy. If they see a slow moving flame burning straight out from the formation, chances are half or more than half of them would call off the idea of pushing through that point, and try the other route, or artillery, or jump in as a player to try take out the flame first, before pushing in. If i just skill 1, right at the moment they start pushing in, they are either stucked fighting, or will not have the time to notice the flame in the formation, as well as players that are trying to break the formation (maul, shortsword) will be stunned by the flame, thus maximizing the amount of damage and providing as much crowd control for your team as possible, effectively winning a fight
