I don't believe I've ever actually seen video footage of the Amtrak express boxcar repositioning moves. For those that don't know, shortly after Amtrak started operating express boxcars, it was discovered that when the cars were empty, severe truck hunting occurred when operating at passenger train speeds. Until the fleet was eventually equipped with struts/dampers on the trucks to mitigate this, the company ran deadhead trains of empty cars to position them for loading. The majority of the express boxcars were delivered in 1997, so this video probably dates from late 1997 or 1998. Very interesting catch.

hell, the last time i was at conway, in the yard,,,CR F7 1865 had just been white lined, several ALCOs on the turn table service tracks. a few EL paints, a former P&E GP7, a black SD45 with red keystones showing. most locos were black. 1977.

This is a time capsule of the booming time before & at take over. The primered Dash 9 at CpPenn in trail is peak of the Blue turning Black.

its sad most of the line NS downgraded. its mostly signal track now. i wish Amtrak would have service that way again but i think the line is severed in Ohio.
