The fact that you got a wave from the crew of the caboose is amazing. Awesome video!

I don’t think enough people realize just how rare original sound on railroad videos is pre-VHS era. Even most of the professionally shot stuff didn’t have it. And the sound quality here is fantastic!

I started with Conrail in 1978. It was pretty raggedy back then but felt like family. The six axle Alco Centuries were amazing to hear but were out of service by 1980

Thank you bisfit84, LOL. Isn't that GREAT! I forgot that was on there until I edited it. That munchkin was my son when he was about 2. Now he is 42, and he does what he was watching in this movie. He has worked for NS here in PA for may four years now, and can be seen anywhere between Pittsburg and Harrisburg. It sure has come full circle. Thanks for watching...

It's interesting how government regulations and meddling were a major factor in destroying those railroads, yet it was the government that pulled a viable system out of the wreckage. Doesn't seem to be much video on the internet, of the Conrail E8s when they were also blue, like the freight units. The Es were used on Business trains. Great video. My third time watching it.
@JessicaKasumi19907 жыл бұрын
I enjoy these colorful years. While I love Conrail blue, it's nice to see how things were in the early years as Conrail was getting started and running a colorful collection of locomotives on decrepit track. Nothing wrong with the trains of today, but this was true railroading when containerization was still a bit of time away from becoming a reality.
@1jackdk7 жыл бұрын
Ie 100% Jessica. That was sure a neat time back then. Thanks for watching...

As a side note, there weren't any GEVO's either! We both know how CSX and many other Class 1's are with their GEVO's.

Where I grew up in Wyoming, mi. I distinctly remember the train yard had conrail locomotives and rolling stock. I also remember it penn central vaguely. The PC Era I was pretty young but I had a lionel train a little older and bought a conrail car for it. Conrail was my favorite then Chessie. All in my hometown.

Thanks for the quick reply. Talk about a roundabout route. My own guess is that the train went up to Buffalo and then headed toward Enola using the PRR Buffalo Duvivsion. Once again great to see the old GE and EMD units.

Hey Jack, Love your closing "Thanks for watching, and hope you enjoyed it. God Bless" Love the fact some people still believe in the one true way to Heaven. Anyway, loved this video as you probably imagined. Would love to go back in time and see this in real time with the camera equipment available today. Imagine a CR/PC/PC/EL lash up on what is now the CSX Riverline. It would be epic! Thanks for more vintage good stuff. God bless Jack and enjoy your Labor Day weekend. -Don

Thankyou brother. A time machine would be fantastic, and capture all that great stuff. Glad you are enjoying this old stuff, and I'm am sure Blessed I got to take it, and share it.Very true Don. The whole Bible is centered around the cross. Christ died on the cross to save EVERYONE from their sins. That is truely epic! and a show of a true love that God has for his people, sending his only Son. All people have to do is open the eyes of their heart. Its there between the pages of the Book. Blessed is the Lamb that shed His blood for our sins. AMEN?

That camera is awesome! I love it when a super 8 camera has all the light go directly to the film with a completely separate viewfinder instead of cutting some of it off with a prism for the viewfinder! That camera looks like you could probably cut a notch on top for the 200 foot cartridges... Does that have an f 1.2 lens?

Not sure what the lense is. I'll have to dig it out later and look. It still works, and there is still a partially used cartrage in it still, and I have NO idea whats on it. LOL
