Consciousness evolution and Owen Barfield by Mark Vernon

Interesting book, I'll order it! A small note: Owen Barfield's concept of the history of consciousness with the central position of the appearance of Christ is based primarily on Rudolf Steiner's historical periodization (see, for example, Rudolf Steiner: Anthroposophical Principles, 1925). As a linguist, Barfield describes the three stages of participation, which Steiner describes from his mind gaze, based on his analyzes of historical documents in which the changed consciousness is reflected. Thus, both approaches complement each other in an interesting way. - I got to know Barfield myself in the 1990s, as a lecturer in the Anthroposophical Society in Berlin.

Of course there is no way to really prove the historical claims that were made in this video. Do we really know what the subjectivity of a person was like in ancient Egypt? For all the theories notwithstanding, I suspect not.
