Id say that in a cook off between the woman on tiktok who said this vs Christine Hà, I'd say the woman who won MasterChef and owns a restaurant is a better cook. And on top of that she's blind. Feminism gave Christine Hà the chance to fulfill her dream and also be allowed in public as a disabled person, which the suffragettes fought for as well.

I'm a feminist and I love kids. I just probably won't have kids. It's partially because I don't want to pass down some health issues that I have, partially because I'm terrified of pregnancy/childbirth, and partially because it's way too much pressure. I prefer being able to work with kids and throw my heart and soul into making their lives better when I'm around them and then getting to come home and not be in charge of anyone. I also love my little nephew, and it's not a chore at all to watch him and spend time with him, but he also goes home eventually. I don't have to deal with all the ups and downs of actually being his parent. Part of me does sometimes want them, but my Grammy always said not to have kids until you're absolutely aching for them and I'm not rn

My best friend doesn't want kids, but she loves spending time with my kids. I don't think I've ever met a feminist who hates children, met plenty of men who do but not a feminist as far as I'm aware. I don't understand where this narrative comes from

Omg, if everyone did as your grammy said then there would be a huge decrease of kids who are unwanted or kids being given up for adoption because their parents didn't want them or felt pressured into having kids when they didn't care for them.
@unicorn73212
@unicorn73212 4 ай бұрын
Yeah I can't have them so it's not even really a choice for me my body doesn't work anymore if I really wanted to raise kids that bad I would just go adopt one I just don't have the funding for it there an extra expense added on top of other expense. If you need that area of your life fulfilled you could always become a teacher or a mentor too there's not just one way to be a feminist sometime house wives are kind of hypocritical here because they upload videos and work side gigs this all thanks to feminism the computers there using everything they touch may of been built by a feminist too they gave women a privilege here and women go against there own nature and they try to make it seem like the women in the old days didn't work without pay it really kind of pisses me off because that's a form of abuse to want women to be in a vulnerable situation with a man making less than 20k a year trying to treat her like some sort of child that needs to be programed or brainwashed into living an outdated lifestyle that only serves one person.

I had to leave the automotive industry because the harassment was relentless where ever I went. I started in a car plant, I was the only woman in my entire zone and they would literally torture me for fun. At one point I tried to report one of my co-workers who was borderline stalking me and I'll never forget my manager's reply verbatim, 'Oh I guess I'll have to REMIND jason about our ZERO TOLERANCE policy when it comes to sexual harrasment". There was no winning. When I sold car parts I would have customers constantly ask the teenage boys I was training wether or not I was selling them the right part. I work in childcare now. I stopped doing computer science for a similar reason. It was always a big interest of mine and luckily I wasn't alone in my classes but the men still way outnumbered us and it made me so uncomfortable especially with what was happening out side of the school (the boys in my year including multiple from that class had made a tier list ranking women who had their photos for their profiles, TW here but the bottom tier was named the n word then it was just like insults up until the top one which was "would actually r*pe", thankfully I had a fictional character as my pfp but some of my friends were on it and one even sat next to one of the boys involved). After all that I was too scared to continue it when going to 6th form because I knew I wouldn't know anyone and I didn't want to be stuck in a situation like that alone.

Feminism is literally just having the ability to choose what you want to do with your life. If you choose to be a stay at home wife/mum, awesome. If you choose to get a job and be a career woman, awesome. It's just being free to choose how you want to live. I'm a stay at home mum and do most of the household work and childcare, I'm a feminist. My best friend doesn't want kids and is super career driven, she's also a feminist. I don't shame her for her choices, just as she doesn't shame me for mine. Would we swap lives? Probably not. That's the wonderful thing about being free to choose. I also want to add that not every man could work on an oil rig. Realistically, most men couldn't do it. It's a very small subsection of the population who can actually do those jobs.

That what feminism is about more choice and equality if some guy want to be a househusband it should be acceptable as when women choose to be housewife or if a guy want to wear a skirt or if a women is into cars or trains if a guys like flowers Also on side a note people want to have more than they can the problem isn’t feminism it the capitalist system the forcing more people to overwork and get pay less and women have it worst with the gender pay gap than men who are getting pay less people need more time and money to have kids or meet someone and on top that the system is isolating us more and more which is negatively affecting metal health also dividing us which can lead to people be radicalized because they don’t try to understand or see the other perspective

Hi, Russian here: it's not really true. We have two main types of medicine: free and not free. And people tend to hate doctors because they believe that doctors in free clinics don't do their job properly since they don't get paid enough by the government and doctors at the not free clinics don't do their job properly because they get more money if you get stuck with them. So it's more about our burocracy and corruption. Also a little fact: most doctors here are immigrants from Southern countries like Armenia or from southern republics like Tatarstan or Dagestan. It's still a prestigious job but not as prestigious as in USA because you work a lot and barely make any money. So doctor husband isn't a catch here 😂 My grandmother is a nurse in the past and she is like a girl boss of the whole building because she can help someone or give an advice

honestly, it's because they don't want to. They know that their concept of feminism is wrong, they are avidly aware of it, but they choose to keep fighting this imaginary version of feminism so they can feel like they are right. It's another form of weaponized incompetence. They hide behind their imaginary version, using it like a shield, when they attack real feminist values because the reality is that they are desperate to be in control. They know they are wrong. Female anti-feminists usually think that fighting against feminism will make them "one of the boys" and that misogynists will treat them differently than other women because they were on their side. But the reality is, they won't. But they don't want to accept that either.

@@KlearlyIMme and when they have thoughts growing up like "how and why something is happening" it's heavily discouraged to question anything that may chip at their "good" Christian beliefs. Evolution=bad and they don't even understand how it works and keep using it as one of their faith boogeymen puppeted by Satan. I grew up in a rural conservative farm near a small town. I remember kids being given the option to step out of science class during lectures on evolution or anything that was sensitive to rural conservatives like sex ed. I think parents got to sign them off from it too but I could be wrong. (2000s-2010s btw) I was raised to believe in all that stuff including more extremist like how everything is women's fault and men are suffering so much for it boo-hoo. It was very surreal being a little girl in all that. There was this air of angelic ideals about little girls but the second she develops she's an evil temptress that needs to know her place. I think it was around age 12 when I just completely dropped believing in God or any of it. I still had to pretend being one otherwise my living situation would be treated less than human. I remember waiting to catch on fire in church and that the priest would see through my bullshit as much as I saw through his. Despite getting the hell out of dodge and moving to a bigger city when I turned 18, I still had a lot to unlearn even though I didn't believe in it. I think I still have years ahead of me to question and unpack that cursed ideology that was drilled from birth and surrounded my everyday life until I could cut it off. I guess what I'm trying to say is there's hope for people that are in it and not completely brainless. They have a big fear to conquer once they understand what it's doing to themselves and others. The number of them coming to those conclusions however are unfortunately slim but never impossible.

The conservative talking point about last names is so Anglo centric tbh. So many cultures (like Latin cultures for example) have been hyphening their last names for centuries and it’s not “edgy” or “feminist” or disrespectful. In their perspective, the family name of your mother is just as much a part of your identity as the family name of your father. It honors both sides of your family. It’s not a hassle…you’re just white.😂 No shade intended, promise. Just facts.

Puertorican here 🙋‍♀️. The whole idea of having 2 last names goes back to if the only male in the family only has girls and have no boys to pass the last name then the daughter will help pass the family last name. The daughter will have 2 boys for her husband (heir and the spare) and the third boy will carry the family last name by switching the last names around or the daughter will have 2 boys for the husband and one of them can be adopted into the family to help pass the last name. At least that’s what my grandfather used to tell us when we were younger to all his grandkids 🤷‍♀️.

They’re pretty much all white men and half of them are related to someone in the trade because a lot of these trade unions were made to kinda give white men the monopoly on these opportunities. For instance, I have a male friend that has 0 construction experience but by virtue of being a white man, his friend just offered him a job doing plumbing vs me, I have 9 yrs experience as a plumber /pipefitter, yet I e been laid off for over a year and have applied to numerous jobs and even with my resume and experience, can’t seem to get a job in my own field that I graduated 5 yrs apprenticeship for, the. Got another 4 to 5 yrs experience on top of that. Worth noting re: pay disparity, industries tend to start paying less and THEN having women join the field. The loss of prestige usually comes first which is what allows more women to break into the space. I had to know this as a psychologist because this phenomenon happened in my field. Many older male psychologists will complain that the field lost prestige when women broke in, but it was actually the other way around. Just a note because the reality of the situation is stronger for the feminist argument.

On top of that, why do they also not understand why a lot pf women wont do certain jobs due to it not only being male dominated, but also because its extremely unsafe and also like highly discouraged to go into those fields. And they consistently do not understand the gender wage gap. Ive also noticed they victim blame women too for things that powerful peoole do. Also the whole abortion thing, the one girl gives me the vibes that she's just like Lila Rose (just withoit the money and conservatives funneling money to an organization), where she'd harass people with wanted pregnancies, that go downhill where an abortion is required. Another reason women often make less or choose generally lower paying jobs, is because women often seek out jobs that enrich the lives of others, and naturally, those kind of people get taken advantage of the most, and so make very little. As far as childcare goes. I feel like a lot of men don’t take those jobs because they are afraid that they might be called pedophiles. Not only that, but men are seen as being less nurturing than women, so they might be less likely to get hired for those jobs. I don’t know if this is 100% two or not. But I have a strong feeling that it is the case for at least some. Which is sad, because there are probably a lot of men who would love to work with children, but don’t feel that they can. That’s not the fault of feminism.
@claytoncullers1884
@claytoncullers1884 4 ай бұрын
That's valid, but the definition of "enrichment" is subjective. Most STEM professions are male dominated, and without a doubt contribute significantly to the creature comforts. I'm in biochemistry (drug discovery) and that has a relatively balanced gender distribution, solid pay, and high meaningfulness. I personally wasn't a fan of the comparison between engineering and education. While the point surrounding male dominated professions being better paid is valid, comparing the difficulty of coursework qualifying one for engineering and education demonstrates a massive gap in difficulty. Comparing Partial Differential Equations (a 300-level mathematics course engineers are required to take) to any 300 level education course (primarily consisting of titles that follow the "Teaching X for the K-6 Classroom"), one can clearly see why the difficulty barrier results in a higher salary for one compared to the other. Each job has unique challenges, but the video invites comparison between the two, and in terms of training, simply entering the field of engineering is far more difficult than education. I will admit bias in that I'm at one of the Top 10 Engineering schools in the US, so it could simply be our engineering program is more rigorous than standard and our education program is subpar, but I would assume the trend generally holds true.
@Shoot4AlarmFire

@@claytoncullers1884 I by no means meant to suggest that male-dominated cannot also be enriching. I only refer to the career fields mentioned in the Tik-Tok, and the research we have suggesting why those fields are female dominated. Obviously, there is an exception to every rule. My point still stands that fields like teaching and social work are incredibly undervalued and underpaid, and that most people choosing them are doing so for good reasons, not money-based ones. I hate to see those used as examples of WHY women are underpaid, because it oversimplifies a much bigger issue.

I am a feminist. I am getting my PhD in neuroscience, my husband is a carpenter. I cook, clean, and enjoy doing those things. If I did not want to perform my research anymore, I would be able to stay home. I am a feminist, and that means ability to discuss with my partner my goals, aspirations, and division of the household responsibilities. We perform pretty traditional roles in our house, but it was at *our* discretion, not because either of us had any predisposed ideas of what a sex should do. My husband loves to cook, he cleans, ultimately, he loves to ensure my happiness. If that meant I never cooked or cleaned another day, that would still be true. Maybe I'm a manist for taking such advantage of my equal partnership... Also, we came up with our own last name! It was awesome, and ours. We came from...not ideal houses...so it was a way to make us our own. Despite women making up 2.6% more of the neuroscience field than men (52.6% women), they are severly underrepresented in media, publishing, and THEIR OWN RESEARCH. In fact, male neuroscientists and male neurologists make 11% more salary than women with the exact same experience and degree as them. Yet, women publish 50% of all research in these fields.

If memory serves, i recall learning that a coping mechanism is to identify with your opressors for feelings of safety and security and to secure yourself a better position. I feel like this is what women who are against feminists are doing. The tragic part is it's self destructive. They are actively harming themselves to feel safer which is sad and frustrating. They would absolutely benefit from feminism and be safer but they instead torpedo a movement that would only help them

The whole last name debate thing on twitter is so funny and stupid to me. My grandmother didn’t want my grandfathers last name when they married and he wasn’t allowed to take hers at that point. So they just made something cool up. That my grandmother literally chose! Whenever I tell that to those men on twitter they lose their minds and get so angry with me. But it’s worth it tbh

I’m a nurse and my fiancé is an engineer. We both have the same level of education (bachelors degrees) and are in entry level jobs in our professions. We both graduated from the same university. I’ve been a nurse for a year longer than he has been an engineer. He makes $15k more than me and while I’m glad he makes good money, I’m sad I don’t get to be compensated fairly.

I have loved the idea of making a new last name since I was a kid. Luckily though, my last name is pretty iconic, and I did get away with believably claiming familial ties to a fictional character for the majority of my primary school life, so I'm not changing it anytime soon. But I do love experimenting with this concept with my characters. My favourite example is the Reeds family. Theodore Colt and Ramirez Vasquez both came from different family names, but when they got married, they decided to start a new family with no ties to their toxic past and named themselves after the reed lake they used to sneak out to during their courting stage. Of course, these are fictional characters in a small town in the middle of a fictional country, but 'art mimics life' or something like that. Custom last names can be so sweet and sentimental, and I really hope more people start doing it!

The last name is such an interesting thing. I'm choosing a new name for myself, and the last name I'm adopting is my great-grandmother's maiden name. I don't care if it was her dad's last name, I didn't know her dad, I knew her (a little) and she was literally the sweetest, kindest person in my family and I want to honor her memory, as well as honor at least one aspect of my family (even though my family is mostly horrible, abusive and/or toxic, and unsupportive/homophobic/transphobic). Her nickname among her friends was "Happy" because she was happy all the time, in fact I never saw her as anything other than happy, she really lived up to it (she's passed on now). Whenever my siblings and I would be dragged to her house (by our abusive mom to sing and perform for her), she'd always smile, laugh, clap for us, and complement us. She really appreciated us, and every time we'd finished, she'd give us an ice cream cone. She was always so happy to see us. I miss her. 💜

The *only* reason my great-grandmother was able to open her own bank account in her own name in the mid 50's was because she WORKED at the bank that she opened the account with. She read the employee handbook that stated that bank employees can open any kind of account in their own name and didn't specifically state that female employees had to get their husband or father's signature as was the legal standard of the time. I love and miss her so much.

Since you brought up baby names, and I kinda love telling this story, I was named after a friend of my parents. Not a close friend, in fact by the time I was old enough to form memories they'd already drifted apart, but they were kinda desperate because my Mom's OBGYN and my Mom were SO convinced I would be born a girl my parents never bothered to think up any boy names. And I'm a cis male, so you can imagine the surprise the day I was born (my birthday is tomorrow, as a matter of fact, from when I write this). My Mom briefly suggested I be given my Dad's name plus a "the 3rd" since my Dad was a Jr. to which he went "No way am I saddling another kid with this name," and so Brian it was. *lol* The name I was going to be given at birth was Laurel Star (Star being the middle name). I think with a name like that had I been born a (cis) girl I likely would've grown up to become a cult leader. Or an erotic dancer. Though had I turned out to be a trans girl, I'd have had a pretty good option for a new name right there.

My friend legally changed her last name when she was 18. Once she had someone trying to use the "father's name argument" against her and her reply was perfect: "Nope, it's not my father's name. I came up with my last name myself, so it is mine". That person was speechless😂

Also side note on the jobs one: There's also the fact that we have male dominanted and female dominanted fields because woman used to not be able to work and when they started to have careers they would limited to what they could and couldn't do. Like they could be nurses but not doctors and even now in certain fields woman get either made to feel like their safety is at risks or not taken as seriously as a man. For example I used to work in a hardware shop and even after working there for almost a year I would still get customers coming in and trying to find a male co-worker because they thought I didn't know what I was talking about or acting like I couldn't cut their glass correctly because I was a woman. To be fair I am better at IT stuff but to act like I didn't know at least basic tool stuff was insulting to say the least. I even once when I was still new had a lady try to ask a male customer in a three piece suite about a tool over me because I was a woman & the dude just looks at her and said: "I don't know I'm trying to figure out what the differences between these two circular saw. Why don't you ask that lady their with the vest on?" and pointed at me standing there by them

Being anti feminist is hating kids, because how can you say you care about your children when you don't want 50% of them to have basic human rights and the ability to live the life they want?

Honestly I love you and your videos. I'm horrible at debating and discussing in general. Especially topics like this make my blood boil and I can't stay rational, so I don't engage in discussions about feminism. But you say everything I want to say and use great examples. I'm glad you're articulating what many others are thinking.
