My mom and dad married without a diamond ring just wedding bands because they don’t like gem stones. Also my mom hates dresses, she married in a gold silk blouse and a pair of wide leg trousers. @@Duck-cb8rk thank you! They are both artists and mom is also a fashion designer, so she made her own blouse and wore a pair of flats. If I remember correctly, the white dress wasn’t really a thing until the Victorian era, and even then mostly for rich/ noble born people since white was an expensive fabric to make and keep white. I don’t think the whole dress and diamond rings started to be a thing for somewhat ordinary people until the 1920s and 1930s when catalogs started portraying them as the ONLY way to get married. The modern symbology of a wedding is only around 100 years old and comes solely from a marketing gimmick

in Italy white dresses for marriage are quite a "modern" thing, common people started to wear fancy white dresses only after WWII, before that time only rich people could afford such a dress so common people used to wear dresses that could have been adapted and reused and, most of the times, dresses weren't white but brown or black . I even have a photo of my great grandmother wearing a brown dress at her wedding in 1930

@@69nadyacole69 Fun fact: for many cultures in the world, white is the color you wear to funerals, and it's shockingly bad taste to wear white to a wedding. 🤷🏼‍♀️ And even in the British West, white only became the color of wedding dresses with Queen Victoria. Some people want their connection to culture-whether it's a red wedding dress, or white in the name of Victoria. Neither tradition is the only wedding tradition in the world, and there's no one "right" color for a wedding dress. Or funeral-wear. Or anything else. The right color, for this bride, in this situation, in her culture, was black-and that's as beautiful a thing as any red, white, blue, or any other wedding dress out there.

I don’t think she was homophobic more so upset with the fact her daughter wanted to be in a black dress. White dress is supposed to be traditional, and I think the mom wanted her to be in a white traditional dress, since she from southern u.s.a and she has a expedition of brides being in white wedding dresses. If she were homophobic. She wouldn’t be there, she wouldn’t even want to go to the wedding. She is allowed to have her beliefs on god and homosexuality, if she wants. But she accepting her daughter for who she is. Is the best thing she can do and is doing so. My mother is a christian she doesn’t agree with the LBGQT group but she willing to accept them for who they are and have no problems with them being LBGQT. And I’m asexual so it makes me happy that she accepts who I am. If people have no problem with LBGQT being themselves and accepting them. Then why can’t christians or people who are religious have that same treatment.

There love story is actually so sweet, and I love the concept for the wedding. Like having it in the library- god, it’s beautiful. The mother is honestly so irritating. She throws shade at her own daughter for marrying a woman, then tries to control what her wedding dress will be. Ugh, ridiculous.

Cult Leader Greg um. What? 😂 At first I thought you were talking about the first comment, are you serious? Did you click on the wrong one to reply to? Please, wtf about their comment has to do with kids or their age or what they say? The mom was being rude and unsupportive, yEa she can say whatever she wants, but just because someone is allowed to call someone racial slurs does that make it okay? No. No it doesn’t. It’s the same here, just on a much lower scale.

water sheep funnily my mom never really pictured either me or my sister having a big wedding, she expected we’d marry a man someday (I’m pansexual so she’s “like whatever never mind I quit on expectations”) but she’s always just assumed we’ll have something very low key

@bubble gumgirl69 no what would have not been okay if she disrespects her own daughter for being gay. But she was quite happy and contented that her daughter found a princess. Also she wasn't mean to her daughter. All she wanted was to see her in a white dress, she just said she couldn't picture her daughter wearing a black dress not that her daughter should not wear a black dress.

@bubble gumgirl69 I am sorry but 'many others' can also see just the same thing I or you can. In this video (atleast) she seems genuinely happy for her daughter, maybe she didn't expect her daughter to be gay. Trust me I have seen parents react worse. Now neither of us know her personally to decide her character based on a 8 minute video, cause 90% of the stuff that is shown in this channel are staged to increase drama and viewers attention. For me she is fine, all she wants is to do, is see her daughter in a white dress. In the sequel to this video where the bride puts on the black dress, her mom is filled with happiness. She is a mother, never question a mother's love,unless you have got proof otherwise.
@uthrapriya7030
@uthrapriya7030 4 жыл бұрын
@bubble gumgirl69 its not wrong. It would have been wrong if she reacted badly. I mentioned this before. Mother's. Opinions. Maters. If you can't even take this much from the woman who pushed you off her uterus, who sacrificed her entire life to you a perfect one, then talk about being ungrateful. The bride herself said that she's close to her mother in the other video. So stop assuming when you don't even know about her.
@uthrapriya7030
@uthrapriya7030 4 жыл бұрын
@bubble gumgirl69 also as I said, this video is mostly staged, so really you don't know how anyone feels. Again she's a mother, I don't think you'd be so please if someone says the same about your mother. So same goes for her.

True. Prom dresses would give her far more selection and it would be WAY cheaper. For my prom (a thousand years ago, lol), I fell for a black prom dress at Forever 21. Mom bought it, even though it cost over $200. She didn't tell me the cost till many years later. I felt so bad, lol. I still have the dress to this day. Dunno what I'm gonna do with it. :P I bought my wedding dress on Etsy since it's a Celtic midnight blue dress. No way in hell a bridal boutique would have that. XD
