I'm Algerian and yes it's a Muslim country and they'll never have a man compete with women. It's a total non-sense. That being said, we have gay people and they're not suffering any violence, we even have famous singers who are very gay (see Cheb Abdou). They just have to deal with social stigma which is the case with pretty much every monotheistic religious population. It's also a country that was colonized for 132 years by France and couldn't develop as it would have if it was free. Thank you for not spreading disinformation while trying to fight disinformation.

I don't think it gets enough attention how absurd the idea is that Algeria (a Muslim majority nation that has laws discriminating against trans and queer people) would be the country to try and sneak a man into the women's boxing tournament at the Olympics. It's like, ok, even IF Algeria's female boxing coaches and the people in charge of that program wanted to do something like that, there is no way they would have been able to get everyone involved with Khelif's training on board and sworn to secrecy. Someone would have leaked something long before she got anywhere near the Olympics because they would have been motivated by their Islamic beliefs to call them out. The short(ish) version is that she's a cis woman who’s been competing for years against other women, and there was no issue, including at the 2020 Olympics. Never any question of her gender or testosterone levels, no articles, no headlines, no commentary from her opponents, nothing. She doesn't even have a particularly stellar record, though she's been improving in recent years. She was even tested at the 2022 World Championships and they didn't find any problems. She took the silver medal without incident. Up until the 2023 World Championships - when she beat a Russian boxer. Quick backstory on the IBA, the boxing organization that tested her and oversees the Boxing World Championships: it's been in contention with the IOC for years for issues of corruption and concerns over refereeing and judging, but things have gotten worse over the past few years. The IOC was concerned about the IBA's complete financial dependence on their sponsor: Russian-owned Gazprom. The IBA also elected a corrupt Russian president in 2020, and in 2022 they (wrongly) declared his re-election opponent ineligible, so he won an uncontested re-election. Multiple countries including the US and UK boycotted the 2023 World Championships because the IBA suspended Ukraine and un-suspended Russia and Belarus in 2022, against IOC guidelines. All of this ultimately resulted in the IOC severing ties with the IBA, which hasn't happened with any sport in decades. They fucked up so bad that the IOC may drop boxing altogether; another organization has risen up and is attempting to replace the IBA in order to save boxing at the Olympics. Anyway. Imane Khelif competes in the World Championships in 2022, undergoes testing, no eligibility issues, takes the silver medal. She competes in 2023, no eligibility issues. Gets to the Round of 16, beats a Russian boxer...suddenly, she gets tested again and based on the results of that test AND her test from 2022, they declared her ineligible. The IBA never said what kind of test it was, just that it wasn't a testosterone test, nor did they explain the results, citing privacy. In an interview with Russian state-owned media, the Russian president of the IBA said that they did a DNA test and found that Khelif had XY chromosomes, but again...look at the source, the audience, the track record of corruption, the timing... Plus, they did this test in 2022 and didn't have any issue with the results? They used the 2022 test as part of their basis for disqualifying her - even though they allowed her to compete in 2023, up until she beat a Russian athlete. So there's no evidence that she has higher testosterone. She competed in the 2020 Olympics without incident, even when other female athletes with high testosterone were withdrawn. And the IBA didn't administer a testosterone test. There's also no other information, testing, questions, or anything that she has talked about that would allude to any sort of chromosomal or hormonal difference. She identifies as a woman and always has. People are diagnosing her with all kinds of conditions but there’s actually no evidence for any of it aside from one vague test that an extremely corrupt organization associated with Russia subjected her to when she beat a Russian athlete, the results of which were only discussed by the Russian president of the corrupt organization when he talked to Russian media.

Its not a vague test. The organisation that tested her is one of the largest bodies in worldwide Boxing, and, oversaw qualifications for the Olympics until 2023. She has XY male chromosomes. Don't know why you're implying she doesn't. Furthermore, XX chromosomes is not a requirement to compete as female in the Olympics. (They were unfair during their competition by changing the chromosome requirement part way through their competition, however, it's just factually true she has XY male chromosomes)

An XY DND "female" would *NOT* have masculine features because the testicles would never fully develop if they were internal. Thus he would not have broad shoulders, or a skeleton structure that would resemble a male. His shoulders are wider than his hips, which means he had to have fully developed testicles. By definition, she would be unable to process testosterone in the same way as non-DSD XY males. There is no evidence that she has an abnormal advantage beyond normal testosterone level fluctuations that occur in men and woman. She lost fights to other non-DSD women boxers. That indicates that statistically her performance is in realm of female pro-boxers.

Your analogy is flawed enough to make it invalid. If you are not a trained boxer, it is quite likely that Khelif and any of the female Olympic boxers would whoop you despite you having the physical advantages of being a male. Here we are talking about a group of people who all excel in their chosen sport, in this case, boxing, they all are pro-level and perform at the boundaries of human capability. The fact that she sometimes loses to other similar weight category females who are performing at these boundaries demonstrates that her performance is statistically within the performance levels of biological females. Alternatively, if Imane Khelif were to compete against pro-level Olympian non-DSD biological male boxers, she would probably lose every fight. She would be so outmatched that her well-being would be in jeopardy. My stance is based on sound reasoning.

My favorite sport, Disc Golf, has a trans-female player which has completely divided the entire disc golf community. Natalie Ryan is her name. She transitioned post-puberty. While I am a staunch ally of LGBTQ+, her insistence on playing in the FPO (female player open) division has made even me mad at her because of the all her litigation (costing the PDGA millions last I heard) and bad vibes at the tournaments. AIS (androgen insensitivity syndrome) is one where a person can be born XY, but because the Wolffian system response is weakened or fails to kick in, it can default the body to female giving sex characteristics that are fully female, or in cases of weakened response, partially male. We have pictures of her in Algeria when she was around seven. She has never been assigned male at birth or otherwise. We do not even know except by assumption and a process of elimination why she might have been judged unqualified to participate as a woman in the international boxing competition two years ago. The International Boxing Association that made that call refused to explain other than to say it was not a hormone (testosterone) test that they used to make the decision. One possibility is she is an XY woman who has XY chromosomes but be of an abnormality none of her sec characteristics developed along male lines. In such cases there is absolutely no advantages. She wound appear to be a girl throughout her childhood and a woman in every way as an adult. You would need to do an invasive physical examination or specialized genetic testing to tell. Most women with this condition so no know they have it until they go seek treatment for infertility. It is possible that she has a chromosomal abnormality which involves sone combination of xx and xy sex chromosomes, which may or may not lead to high testosterone levels. But without high testosterone levels, this would not imply any athletic advantage that would take her out if the acceptable range for woman athletes. But the IBA said they did not exclude her for high testosterone levels. So it is unclear why they would have excluded her at all.

I have competed as female in team sports and martial arts. I always had a biological advantage- ‘above average’ testosterone, I developed and built bulk muscle way too easy- and my sister struggled to build any muscle definition (she’s skinny) with multiple trainers and nutritionists. Sure, I’ve had above average testosterone in some time periods of my development. However, at the same time we discovered I had low to almost no growth hormone during my early 20’s where I should have finished growing. I took that hormone and gained an inch, but I promise early intervention and chromosome testing would have most likely revealed I have DSD have some kind. However, I am trans male and live my life so much more naturally and have not been misgendered since before the day I started T, even rarely. There are over 100 ways someone can be considered intersex and most people DONT EVEN KNOW THEY ARE INTERSEX. The person we debate about publicly or in private probably doesn’t even know.. I can’t imagine how she f*cking feels.. the absolute disrespect.
