I swear I wish I could go back and get the education required to have this type of job. It gives me chills to think of working with things that have been around so many historic people. To be able to work with something that queens and kings used would be amazing. Ugggg I wish I would have lived my life differently.

I noticed she said it can get a bit scary working there in the evening. It would be interesting to know if she has seen or heard anything odd that would lead one to believe they have ghosts

Interesting behind the scenes look at the good work being done at Hampton Court. I'd enjoy spending time it that workroom! Since I've taken online courses thru the Royal School of Needlework I enjoy seeing more about Hampton Court.

Love all the mini-Hampton Court episodes. It goes w/o saying the Cardinal knew fine craftsmanship when he saw it. This obviously points to why HC has survived these many hundreds of years. That being said it is also well known how Henry lived and breathed 'excesses' in all he did. What I would like to know is what happened to all the furnishings from the time period? I assume he HC would / should have had fine furnishings throughout the whole building. So, where did everything go? I visited HC some 23 or 24 yrs ago and mostly what I remember about it (besides the structure itself) is the fact that it was essentially a 'shell' there was not very much inside except huge empty rooms, tapestries, paintings (I think) and that's about it. I couldn't for the life of me imagine Henry the 8th would have lived in a palace with few furnishings. It just wouldn't be Henry.

Lovely little video and what a fascinating and important job you have. I too would not like to be there after dark, despite how lovely everything is.

If I'd been born in the UK and got my education there, I would have wanted to work in the History field. I would have signed up to be a museum curator or historical re-enactor.

Is there a scheduled time when the palace will be back open? As I watch you work on an eerily quiet palace, I start to wonder, during Henry VIII’s time, when would the palace me the MOST Vacant? Did he had a full time staff caring for things there even when he wasn’t present? Was the monarchy, even back then, the largest employer in England?
