The restoration has brought back the "ethereal -ness". The unknown of young love. The exhilarating vibrancy of spontaneity. And the misty depths going back into the painting, feels like you can dive right in!!. And those pinks , ahhh, those pinks!. The innocent blush of young love!. One can almost feel the fabric!.

I love these works of art. Nobody today can quite capture what these masters' paintings did. The other thing, is these paintings had a suggestion hidden in them, the more you look the more you can't not see.

Dazzling video on the conservation of Jean-Honoré’s _The Swing._ Both Dr Yuriko Jackall and Martin Wyld are very engaging. I wish that, instead of “filler” shots of Dr Jackall walking dreamily through the stacks at the Wallace Collection, a bit more screen time had been devoted to the “before” and “after” shots of the conserved painting, which is, after all, the focus of the video.

Fabulous video! When I saw The Swing after its clean I was blown away. I didn't really think it would make that much difference but it now looks like the paint is still wet. It s so gorgeous. I usually go and see it (as well as the Wallace's other delights) every couple of weeks and am missing it while it is currently in the Disney exhibition. I'm going to see that next week so am looking forward to that very much. The Wallace Collection is my favourite place in London (and probably the World). It is top of my list of recommendations for any visitors to this great city. Thanks to everyone at the Wallace for all their great work. 🥰

@@dmd5645 I am very lucky to live so close. Have you ever been? It is always my No.1 recommendation to visitors. I'm going to an after hours party there soon which is always wonderful! Being surrounded by all this beauty then dancing the night away to a DJ in the atrium feels like partying like it's 1799! If you haven't been, it has to be on your bucket list!

I wondered why dr. Yuriko Jackall showed such a strange body language while she is walking or talking about the artist. Not so absorbed in the painter or the painting like the restoration-expert. Was the Rococo inspired by the contra-Reformation and the Catholic church? I missed that information about this style period in this documentary. I like these Wallace collection video's in general and hope once to visit it. From Holland with ❤

Just noticed, isn't interesting that she and the young man are positioned so that there are prickly roses between them??. What a fragrance , but they'll sting you!! Almost as if it's saying, it's gonna "prick" you, what a double entendre!!. Or the opposite, that "fooling around" can get quite prickly!!. Interesting.........
