It's one of the worst band names ever, and in a genre where Band Names Matter, it's catastrophic. THEIR MUSIC IS SPECIAL, so they pick a cliche that's forgettable, as their daily moniker? Uh oh. Their music is special, so they LOOK generic? Cognitive Dissonance, dude! JUST TRY IT: MAKE A VIDEO of one of their wackier tunes, but put all 3 in some UNIQUE masks (make yer own using cereal-box-cardboard-sandwich-tied-to-sunglasses, for instance), but GIVE IT A UNIQUE AND MEMORABLE BAND NAME. And put it out there and WATCH how fast that shit takes off. (LOTTA crappy band names out there.....that are DISTINCTIVE, from Coldplay to The Police to The Residents to Blink 182 to Green Day to Limp Bizkit to ABBA! HOW did they pick a bad name that is invisible?)

THE BAND CHOSE "CONSIDER THE SOURCE"......B-E-C-A-U-S-E it's a cliche!!!!! Yeeesh. "RETURN TO FOREVER" is a pretty good band name: UNIQUE AND SINGULAR, easy to google, etc!! 21st Century Music. I love it. Equal parts of all kinds of influences like Mahavishnu orchestra,Rush, Mark Guiliana, Shawn Lane, Primus,and many, many other forward thinking acts, but a sound ALL their own. I freaking love it. I kept seeing their ads at a club I go to in CT and thought, "oh, I wonder who this jam band is?' And they are NOTHING like a "jam" band at all. I mean they JAM, but not like a stoned hippy thing, wackawacka, y'know...this has depth and meaning and lots of atmosphere and texture. Freaking great. Gotta catch them next they are are playing for sure.

Jambands are similar to highly talented improvisational jazz combos, in terms of how they play & what to expect at a show. Every time they play a song, it's different. Every show is different. It's one of the best & most unique aspects of this music. A lot of times, if you go see MSM, you might as well have just popped in a CD. Far from being "stoned hippie, wackawacka, y'know..." these are actually incredibly gifted, world-class musicians.

I recently saw these guys at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park and not knowing anything about the band they blew my head off. We have similar musical influences King Crimson, Tool, Mahavishnu Orchestra,Early Genesis! Bass player really a kool guy to talk music with! Looking forward to seeing them live again!!!
