@@emtbtrailrider539 My understanding is no. Pivot built in the battery to help shed more weight. You can take it to the shop and they can remove motor and then remove battery. But it’s not anywhere as easy as on Relay. 🥲 Thx for popping by eMTB Trail rider!

I needed an motor replacement, almost immediately. Pivot was able to send out a new motor the next day and I was riding in three days total. Excellent service from Pivot. They are by far the most user-friendly manufacturer. I have dealt with with specialized when I did try to call them they just referred me back to the dealer. With Pivot I have relationships already with several people internally and they have worked extremely well with my local bike shop.

A buddy has a few hundred miles on his and I'm impressed....he can hang with my full power on a 30 mile ride with both of us in Eco (2022 Levo Alloy Comp for me). Mid power light weight makes sense and I came to this conclusion after riding a long weekend trip with a couple Transition folks on the Relay. I give the nod to the Relay as the option for more travel is what I'm after, plus you can pull the battery and shuttle with it. Fazua will work out the kinks as all systems have their issues. Hell, my Levo is in for warranty issues with 1600 miles on it.

Great comment Bill! Thx. Yes, I agree on all fronts. I really do like the Shuttle SL but didn’t love the Fazua motor. I do think they’ll make it more adjustable going forward. The biggest AHA moment I had riding it was that it was sooo similar to my Tallboy. Which is a good and a bad thing. I realized that if I’m gonna have two bikes, I want the ebike to be more enduro like than my Tallboy. So, for that reason, I likely would not go with the shuttle sl. Orbea Rise review coming soon!

Heard customers of the Shuttle SL are waiting for a promised Software update, which is going to improve the motor behaviour. So this is a problem Fazua is certainly aware of. Software departments often are a bit more relaxed, as they have the option to send updates (which hardware departments can't do) :-)

Thanks for the info Stephan H! Very interesting. It is the challenge with ANY first year motor, component, even frame. It always take some guinea pigs (aka us mere humans) to test things, complain, bitch, moan (and rightly so) for the manufactures to (hopefully) make it right! I do LOVE this bike. But that motor just wasn't as solid as it should be. In due time, with enough bitch'n, it could be amazing! : )

I owned it for about a month and you certainly nailed it . The motor mounts creaked even after tightening them also it had the 15mph EU cutoff. But I owned a Full powered Levo and nothing has matched the ride quality of the Levo at this point . More power more suspension and the weight seems to all work really well. I would rather go for the shuttle LT if your gonna go emtb route . Just my opinion. Very good review 👍

@@jroase1658 ah - sorry just saw this! Great points. A buddy has the Kenovo SL. I’m keen to try that as it’s got the burliness of an enduro bike but still low 40s weight. Have you ridden the Altitude or Instinct Powerplays? That Dyname engine is top notch. And crazy powerful. Hoping Rocky comes out with lighter weight versions. I’d grab one in a heartbeat.

@@jroase1658 so do live out west in the big mountains areas? I live in the Midwest where space is limited so it’s lots of tight turns and no long flow sections and short punchy climbs. Would you still go for heavy full power levo in that environment? I have a Vado SL and love it but that motor would not be enough for me off-road at 66 yrs old

Let me help with your decision. Don’t get this bike stick with a full power . You’ll enjoy having more power when you want it and plowing through sections is a pleasure with more weight and suspension travel . Good luck and demo as many bikes as you can before you pull the trigger . ✌️

Thx J Roase! Do you ride an eeb? If so, what’s your ride? I’m trying to demo an Orbea Rise next. It’s the challenge of power vs weight. Want a “lighter” ebike but with the power of the RM altitude or instinct. Thx for commenting!

For years I wrote a full size Levo S works and a levo SL expert carbon. By the third year I was almost exclusively riding the SL. I ultimately sold both bikes and purchased the Pivot shuttle SL. It is by far the best electric mountain bike I’ve ever ridden.

@@Camelwho Here are my thoughts. YMMV. My 1st ebike was a LEVO Comp (Aluminum). Too much of a good thing. Next up was a LEVO SL Carbon Comp. Yeah much easier to flick around, I upgraded the fork, shock and brakes. In addition have a full power Spesh Tero (a hardtail) set up with a Marzocchi shock etc. It is a beast. What I want is something between the full fat LEVO and the LEVO SL carbon. I really thought an Orbea Rise wouild fit the bill. I excitedly demoed one and was underwhelmed. Mostly as the correct size (L) just didn't seem to fit me. Hard to describe but it felt more like I was sitting on the bike rather than in it. So compared to my LEVO SL Carbon Comp......the Rise did not rise to the occassion. And I was bummed as I thought it would be THE bike. Off handeldly the dealer said what about a Shuttle SL. My first response was: "can't afford a Pivot". His response was just try it. Rode the Pro X0 Eagle edition (nearly $11K). Dang it felt just right. Insane amount of money for a bicycle!!!! The SL/XT version might be affordable...and the price might be negotiatable.

Nice video. Thanks! Did you try the trek exe and how was that motor power compared to the shuttle SL? Did it have enough oomph. I don’t want a full power heavy bike but at 66 I do want enough power. I too ride a TallBoy but gen 1, so anything will feel less squirrely to me.

You hit it spot on! I’m in the exact same dilemma - 90nm specialized levo expert at 50lbs or 50nm trek fuel exe 9.5 at 44lbs??
@pedalpoonces
@pedalpoonces Жыл бұрын
Hmm - tough dilemma. You could also consider the Orbea Rise at 60nm and varies from 36 to 45 lbs depending on build! I guess the good part is there are more and more quality choices than ever before!

@moosicman101 Жыл бұрын
@@pedalpoonces agreed. i considered the rise, but i’m not a fan of the shimano motor and 445mm chainstay. 60nm feels spot on. my levo has 455mm chainstays and it can feel like a bus. the brose motor engages incredibly naturally and the belt drive is a nice touch.
@pedalpoonces
@pedalpoonces Жыл бұрын
@@moosicman101 interesting. Curious, are you not a fan of the Shimano Ep8 motor (on many bikes) or the EP8 RS (only on the Rise)? Cuz I personally have ridden the Ep8 on several bikes and really didn’t like THAT motor. But the RS version on the Rise was really smooth and more natural feeling. My two cents. Regardless, so many solid choices now! Go get’m!
@moosicman101
@moosicman101 Жыл бұрын
@@pedalpoonces fair point - i’ve only tried the standard ep8 and not the ep8 rs. the ep8 felt and sounded so egregious that it put me off getting a santa cruz heckler (which felt like a great package at ~48lbs). i had also heard that the rs is a better version of the shimano motor, but felt at the time that a detuned version of the same motor internals and chassis would still make for a poor motor. you’ve convinced me to give the ep8 rs a try on the rise. i’ve seen so many here in northern california, only being beat by levos. did you notice any sort of rear frame flex on the rise given that it’s a pretty simple split pivot yoke design? i do prefer an incognito look on emtbs that don’t draw attention to the motor housing like what pivot and the trek exe have done (unlike the yamaha motor on the new giant x), and super short 29er chainstays. still hoping for that perfect 40lb e-bike with a DW/VPP-esque platform and discreet looks under 7k, but i think i’ll have to stick to my 52lb levo comp for a while longer. great problems to have.
