Ma'am is it correct that the 'p' in italic language becomes 'f' in the corresponding Germanic word? This idea came to my mind when you were giving the example of "pitri" (Sanskrit) to "father" (English)... Am I correct???
@NibblePop2 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct.

Mam we want more videos on this topic... ❤ In my opinion i can easily understood about English philology , old English.. One thing i was noticed in Grimm's Law maybe i was wrong that is "the corresponding germanic word has an 'f'.." Mam "f" is a consonants or not???
@NibblePop4 жыл бұрын
Yes Ruhi, F is a consonant. That is why it is called Consonant Shift. Thanks for your feedback.
@ইতিকথা-ন৭স4 жыл бұрын
Mam if F is a constant then why you used "An" before the word of " "F" in Grimes's law
@NibblePop4 жыл бұрын
@@ইতিকথা-ন৭স You have asked a very important question. Let me explain. F is a consonant and when we use it in any word we use "a". For example a fox, a fan etc. But, when we are pronouncing just the letter "f" and not in any word, we are pronouncing as "ef". So we say an f. Let me give you another example. M is a consonant. we say "a man", "a map" but when we say "he is an M.P" we use "an" because then we are pronouncing "m" as "em". Articles are dependent on pronunciation. That is why we say "an honourable man" because the pronunciation is "onorable" (h silent). Hope you have now understood. :)

Notice the time period when it was published. It was long back. I have been making videos only in English since 2021. These are some of the early ones, mostly made for students of West Bengal during Covid.
