Tip…I cut a pool noodle into short pieces and stuck them in the refrigerator door shelves to stop items from tipping or rattling around. They also work to fill in spaces in the cupboards to tighten up the space between the baskets I put in the cupboards for dishes and cups. Cheers from Alberta Canada. My parents were from Blackpool and Sheffield. 😊

One tip for you, check the glass top on the cooker. We have just driven from home to Eye Kettleby Lakes in our Consort Reef and when we arrived we found that the glass on our cooker top had detached from the clips. It was a five minute job to re-fit it and tighten the two screws that hold it in. If you don't check this regularly you might end up with a lot of damage.

I know what Carol means about the width. I have a campervan which is a Fiat Ducato too, but rather older than yours. I found it very challenging to drive at first, particularly judging the width. I am on my own though, and decided I had to get on with it. So I made myself drive it all the time, and gradually improved and got happier. I also bought a new sat nav which gave me more confidence that I could set it up to avoid the very narrow roads.

Hi Ken and Carol. I grabbed a coffee and enjoyed listening to all your insights and thoughts on snoopy and wild camping. I remember how much I liked little red and your adventures, it was pretty good. Totally agree it's the best way to travel around..... I use non-slip matting in the cupboards and inside storage containers you could probably use it in the fridge as well.also, Ive rolled up teatowels and padded out the cutlery drawer and anything that can rattle and roll,it might reduce some of the noise. Don't know if that helps you much, Happy Travels 👋🦘

Great video as usual. Our Ford Nugget Plus is actually very quiet, no rattles (tempts fate) and we have music playing so that would mask any small noises. As you film/blog whilst travelling you don’t have music to distract so you’ll notice more rattles. Very wise to do regular oil and filter changes, you look after the van and it’ll look after you! We’re on 46,000 miles in 3 1/2 years, Ford say it should have had 2 services, it’s had 4!

Noise reduction: we have a ‘Silent Running’ routine. While I’m tidying up the outside - disconnecting water, electric etc, emptying toilet. Senior Management is covering items in cupboards which rattle with (clean) tea towels kept for the purpose. Another tea towel tucks under the glass hob and sink covers. Our fridge is normally full but it always towards the rear.

I'm so very pleased that you guys are very happy with your van choice, brilliant news. Having been together for over 40 years and never once holidayed outside of the UK, you can understand why we have done it all. Tents, trailer tents, caravans, Motorhomes, we have had good times in every one of them, and each comes with their own pros and cons. It really is what suits your needs most and, provided you fulfil your needs, one can suit you better than the other. Having retired a year ago and keeping time with the sort of day tripping and short breaks we really enjoy, we have ended up with an NV200 1.6 petrol auto, professional conversion 😅😅. It drives like a car, gets into any carpark with height barriers, propex gas central heating, solar via victron mppt to lithium battery, 12v dc to dc charging and gas for cooking. We carry a proper cassette toilet , just in case and a drive away awning if needed, there are two of us 😊. We have sold one of our cars as we no longer need it, so we are happy. Would we like the luxury of a consort, of course we would, I would be lying if I said differenlty, but does our little camper tick all our boxes........ absolutely 🎉.

The larger the van the noisier - seriously - there is more space for the noise to echo. You have the same amount of 'stuff' but it's spaced out in the bigger van. I haven’t actually seen a Consort van in real life but I'm impressed by the Consorts I've seen on youtube. I don't need a bigger van - there's only me + dog - but if I did, I'd look at a Consort. I mostly stay on Aires and CL/CS as I do have an onboard toilet and I don’t do long trips Keep on keeping on! Safe travels x

Very interesting video! Reducing the tire pressure (the manufacturers have got weight lists that tell you which pressure you can drive) makes the van drive much "softer". You could of corse get air suspensions, but that would be very expensive. Have fun 👍👍👍 Greetings from Germany 😀😀😀

A year already !!! How time flies !! Glad your loving the van and Consort are just a brilliant company. We have just sold our Consort Reef and ordered a new Consort Reef from them, so its our second Consort 🙂 Only reason we changed is that the new vans come with highter spec as standard, but, like everyone, we have filled the option list 🙂 I can see Carols point about driving it compared to Little Red, but the more you drive it the more it becomes second nature. Great insight video and take care and hopefully see you out and about sometime, Trev Debz and Tyler

And 12 month travel is wonderful. Standing up idem. A loo is great idem. So lucky for us there is still a lot to see of riding, history etc. I use more baskets and compartments to prevent rattling(Ikea/Aktion).

I always say, it’s like giving birth, it doesn’t matter about the weight, you just want a long thin one! Our motorhome is 6 metre, and compact, so not much wider than the cab. It seems so much smaller than our last standard width one I get a bit too confident. I’m the driver,71, my husband is partially sighted, but it makes him breathe in a bit down country roads, especially when there’s walls at the side! Love your van, definitely not as noisy as a motorhome, but we’re quite good at muffling stuff, pack it tight. Love the videos
@ruthkirby92773 сағат бұрын
We love our Reef. It does crash about a bit if we accidentally hit a pot hole, I wonder if semi air suspension would make the ride less harsh. We upgraded to the lithium in November, it’s an automatic and has the electric handbrake so I doubt we will ever change it. The service from Consort is first class - long May it continue 🙂. A great review Ken and Carol.

Hi Guys, we love your channel, we are newbies to campervan life, we have a new vw transporter straight from the manufacturer waiting for conversion in may 2025. I would use small cool bags in fridge when travelling on the road to stop those rattles in there, also I would use kitchen towels, loo rolls, hand towels (I'm sure you get the idea) to stop those hidden noises in a travelling vehicle, cheap cotton drawstring bags could be used in cupboards. Not yet experienced newbies with love. ❤

We certainly understand why you would think we get special treatment but we had owners who are not KZbinrs telling us that is how they are treated. When we went to their open day before we bought we witnessed an owner simply dropping in with a problem with their fridge so we felt good about them before we bought. Of course we have a channel and 46k subscribers and I am sure Consort know that we will share issues if they are not sorted. So far the service has been excellent and every Consort owner we know say the same. 👍

The idea of wild camping is lovely, but there is always a risk to personal safety when camping away from safety of a campsite. You just never know if there is a nutcase lurking by... also, for the price of a van you could camp on many many campsites for many many years, for the extra cost of a van. Finally, insurance is a lot higher for a van. Just a few personal thoughts. Yes mainly a cost and safety thing for me.

Near Bridlington then ! Chalk cliffs, the chalk ridge stretches from the south coast across country with it's chalk streams and up to Flamborough - Boiler problems they need to pull their socks up - Is there another word for wild camping for a van as it isn't exactly a stealthy colour, wild camping is usually reserved for sleeping outdoors with a bivi, tarp, hammocks or small tents in varying terrain which you walk or cycle to, what about Off Gridding ? (don't forget dump the sponges guys) Nice video thanks for sharing 👍

I have a Malibu 640LE and the ride was extremely rough until on a whim, I purchased Air Suspension kit from Croatia through eBay at the £350 then a friendly local car dealer in Goole "Walkers" garage installed the kit at an agreed price, the result was night and day, no more rolly polly through corners as the van drives flat no body roll and secondly the compliance was close to car standard! Would I advise air suspension, yes 100%.

Sadly we cant use the radio when filming. A pair of Apple ear buds pro work wonders with the noise cancelling. 😁👍 We agree we rarely use the hot water setting as it gets hot just from the heating. We didn’t even know it had a problem until they tested it.

@@LifeistooshortCK Am quite keen on the consort but have hesitated about the choice of trauma heater newcomer to diesel heating.. Currently I have an Esbacher and have not had one problem in 13 years. (Well thought I had one but it turned out in fact to be a split charger problem not the heater at all!). Initially having a problem and needing to switch the boiler fine.... but having to have the boiler replaced a second time suggests a design flaw.

@LifeistooshortCK That's funny! You know they make bumper storage boxes mounted to your hitch that swing out of the way of rear doors.. but the swing ones are about $1300.

Hi K&C. Can I ask which diesel Truma do you have? Is it the 4 or the 6? I'm wondering if the reliability issues you've had are particular to just the one model, or inflict both models?
@LifeistooshortCK2 сағат бұрын
Ours have all been the 4 E

Try driving around a car park, with one of you sitting in the back to listen where the noise is coming from.

It will have to be Carol. I am deaf in one ear so I can’t pinpoint it. We need a really rough one 😁👍

Gosh, that year has gone quickly! Have you had any issues with the Fiat Ducato vehicle battery? Ours seems to drain quite quickly when at rest. Cue hoohah with the alarm going off at 6am and refused to stop for 2 hours.....! 😮 N&Nx

None but Consorts electrical system diverts some power from the solar panels to maintain the starter battery. This is important to make sure the tracker keeps working. 👍

I hope you don't mind me asking but did you sell little red privately and how did you finance snoopy. It is a lot of money for anybody to pay all at once, i certainly couldn't and keep my retirement buffer just in case anything else happened ?

Well we bought it outright. The reason we were able to do that is we are still in our first ever house, we saved, couldn’t have kids and we both had good jobs and pensions. Vans are over priced thanks to Covid which made everyone look for a way to isolate on holiday. 👍

@LifeistooshortCK I could see a 6 metre van being good for us but unfortunately i think we would get the best use out of it abroad but not yet. I am just 66 and just about to get my first full new state pension after I had to buy 8 extra years after the 2016 changes, which luckily took away the opted out reduction, which was caused by my final salary defined benefit pension being so good, after retiring in 2010, 15 years ago, again buying 8 AVC years with that pension, meaning I was only 3% short of a full private works pension. My wife is 8 years younger than me, still working and we couldn't go away together for very long periods a.t.m, like i would like yet but we have got away for 3 × 10 day flight holidays this winter and generally every 2 weeks in our van during the summer for 3/4 days each time. We have a 4 berth fixed bed caravan and a Fiat talento 5.4 metre lwb pro built camper a.t.m. When i enquired about a 6 metre dreamer campervan in the past, they told us to sell ours privately, which put us straight off. A lot of manufacturers only want to take manufacturer built campervans it would seem. My teacher daughter, is just about to leave home and that would give us more than enough money to upgrade vans, when we down size houses with cash. Maybe that would be the time to do it ? My daughter is only leaving now because she is a result of my second marriage, my first wife died at 38 with cervical cancer leaving two boys of 9 and 12 at the time, both obviously men now.
