Hi Paddy. It won't be the last time that you're invited to share a meal with a family. I had a flat tire in the middle of the country not far from Phong Nha and after I'd paid the old guy the small amount he wanted for the repair and given him a modest tip his daughter invited me to have lunch with all the family. Not for money, just for the expeience. I think they are the most hospitable people on the planet.

Wow ! It's surprising because you have come to Bac Kan province - my hometown, one of the poorest provinces in the country. That lake is called Ba Be lake, about 30km from my house. Ba Be Lake has a very sacred, fanciful and beautiful formation by the peaceful landscape, together with Puong cave, Tien (fairy) pond, some historical temples... The temple where you burned incense is called An Ma Temple. I hope you will have fun with the Tay ethnic people selling goods around the lake, along with the specialties of Ba Be lake. In 1995, Ba Be Lake has been recognized by UNESCO as one of the 20 most beautiful natural freshwater lakes in the world. Most of the ethnic minorities here are the Tay - the second largest ethnic group in the country, after the Kinh, and I am also the Tay... I hope you had a special trip. on our country. Vietnam always welcomes you all. Love you so much 😘🥰❤️❤️❤️🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳

Flora and Note!! You guys HAVE to come back and do the same northern Vietnam trip because I KNOW your drone game is super duper strong based upon the Ninh Binh videos!! Please do come back and go to Da Lat and Sa Pa...the Ha Giang Loop and NW Vietnam (heck, all of northern Vietnam and do the multi-day cave tours, too!). And if you're uber brave, do Dinosaur Spine, which is what I'm hoping Paddy will do. Check out Tigit's channel (they rent motorbikes in Vietnam) as they've got some interesting videos there.

Having been to Vietnam two times, I can agree that Vietnam has a special charm. Topogrophy , food, the people, the culture etc etc are all amazing. And, to travel on any motorcycle there is FANTASTIC! I always felt safe on one of the rented 125 cc scooters and the roads are light in car traffic. Get around on a MC. Nothing like it. Paddy-- should you carry a liter of spare gas? I find it is a very advisable and at times I have needed it.

I'm Damien from Delhi, and have been working in China since 2006. So glad you made it to Vietnam, I've been following you for the last 3 years (since you started the channel). Best of luck and I hope you change your bothTyres and tubes. Getting stuck in the middle of the country with a flat tyre and no kit to repair it, isn’t fun! I know from experience. I love Thailand and have been to the coastal areas and islands many times since 2007. Vietnam, I haven't been to and though I've seen many videos on it I'm dying to watch how you fare on your trip to the north and again to the South. I'd be honoured to meet you some day when things are better. Best wishes and a safe journey. Cheerio!

Epic Paddy. You could not have summed it up any better. Things happen for a reason. I love that it is not just you but you and the Vietnamese people together interacting, even if it was by chance. The views from the guest house and while you were on that boat were breathtaking. Remember issues are not problems, they are challenges. Look what this challenge created for your content. Loved it and $22.00 US for the pleasure. Re the flat tyres, there must be a voodoo doll out there somewhere with a stack of pins. Hopefully the replacement solves that problem or you have every right to be pissed off.

An Ma Temple Legend has it that An Ma temple is located on An Ma island in the middle of Ba Be lake, which is the place to worship the Mac dynasties during the feudal war of Le Mac dynasty. According to many local elders, in the past, after losing the battle, they ran to Puong cave and died there. Later, to commemorate the gods that the people here built the temple of the Mac family. But out of fear of revenge by Le dynasty mandarins, they gradually changed their names to the temples of Ma or An Ma. According to the Tay language, An Ma or An Ma means “a beautiful and peaceful grave”, with the real meaning of being the resting place of the Mac gods of the Mac family. Currently, this place is open free of charge for visitors to visit.
