Every time I see your video I m more and more scared and concerned about these issues Cause these issues are taken so casually in our society that no one really address it as an issue be it unequality, injustice, discrimination intolerance, religious orthdoxness ,voilence , mob lynchings , blind Faith of people on politicians, excessive hero worshipping, falling value of currency , spread hatred amongst society,and many other issues There need to be taken steps against all these

Private enterprises mostly innovate in bribing and corrupting system to eliminate competition and get greater returns on investments. Inequality is the consequence of embracing liberal economic model of development.

The solution you gave is more of the same... To combat inequality we need progressive direct taxation: high rate of marginal taxes on the rich and wealth tax. What was wrong with the pre 1991 economy was not progressive taxation but the license-permit-quota system of command economy. Progressive taxation accompanied by increased social expenditure is good and guarantees reduction of inequality and a fairer society. Also breaking up the big family conglomerates will help to reduce the power and influence of the rich too. All this has been done in the progressive era United States and post war social democratic Europe and produced some of the most prosperous and relatively egalitarian societies ever seen in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. The evil of the post 1991 economic policy of India was that it reduced taxation on the rich and reduced expenditure on health, education and social services and showered the rich and the corporates with tax cuts and subsidies leading to the present state of affairs. If pre 1991 economy was not good for the poor the post 1991 economy has been a disaster for them.

Sure, 97% of rich's taxable income was distributed to the poor. As a result of which Tatas, Birlas and Ambanis lived a humble middle-class life in the late 70s and 80s, right?

You missed to cover rampant corruption and black money in the time of higher taxes. Also, the demand could never be driven higher only with government spending and restrictions on personal wealth gain. While, regulations should be present to stop abusive business practices and labour exploitation, demonizing the rich creates unhealthy and secretive economy in the back off called equal economic indicators. This is not easy and I understand that a small video may not include all aspects. However, describing economy only with cherry picked indicator to show show 60s and 70s in good light in abismal.

You conveniently ingored the data about howmany people have been brought out of poverty between 1950 to 1991 and 1991 till present. Inequality is increased but the overall income of the population is also increased. Its just that the rich got much richer than the poor. poverty has been reduced significantly after 1991 and this poverty was not very different in 1991 from 1950. You are praising the era before 1991and trying to argue that “we should have been equal even if the majority of the country lives below poverty line. So what. The equality would be there.” That’s what you are arguing.
@pankajkumarsharma75035 жыл бұрын
Not supported by facts.. Agriculture crisis moves poor to urban areas. More than industrialisation. Problem is we don't have industries in villages. While crony capitalism is harming but left fails to understand socialism was hardly any help either

@UCNYbBRTO08P9bHH7ToHA8dg Sir ! I supported your comment. Facts are not presented by videomaker. And has make it seem like only BJP support liberalization. As if Ambani or Adani were retail vendors before 😂
@vivektripathi26125 жыл бұрын
Rohan D You don’t get the actual point. Even by our Conservative standard of poverty estimation, compare the era before and after 1991. Compare the income status of Indians in same way, you will get the point. What the video says, we should have been poor in order to be equal when it presents data before 1991 to argue that we were more equal in those time. Its not really an argument. Its bullshit, to put it politely.

Why not socialism? First of all it's not true that "Private enterprise is the only way innovation can be fostered". For example, technology used in Iphone had already been invented through public funding (See Videos Below). And what's wrong with taking wealth from rich and giving it to poor. You're assuming the rich have right to own their wealth, but they've got it by exploiting lower economic classes/workers (i.e Capitalism). Here are some videos which can explain my point. Other than that your videos are great and also this series "Consti-Tuition". Keep it up.
