You might want to apportion that blame more fairly. Its possible you were not the best student. Its possible the teacher were doing their job and you were not. Think about whether you were working hard enough in high school rather than blaming others.

@@glennwatson3313 Sounds like you are the one blaming others - in this case, me. I do not blame the teachers, and I was not a bad student. I had great teachers and was always an A/B student. I believe the focus of the curriculum was to blame, not mine or the teacher's failures. Back then, I learned basic civics and how our system of Government works from schoolhouse rock, not from school. Thanks to the wealth of information on the Internet, my knowledge continues to grow, which is I think normal and healthy. What really upsets me is that I had to learn for myself fundamental information about the founding principles of this country. I believe that universal knowledge of of those principles is critical to the continued success of our republic and should be taught in K-12.

You said "I should have learned (or been taught) in school" The "been taught" part indicated a lack of ability regarding your teachers rather than a degree of individual responsibility. Whenever I get into a conversation that includes American History, both took AP History, and both have no recollection of being taught what I would say were basic dates and historical events of our great country. All one needs to do is actually read. And figure it out for yourself. Read all four Organic Laws and others listed, but in a different order. Replace the term P/person with slave throughout. 1) THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE-1776 2) ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION-1777 3) Read the Treaty of Paris (1783). 4) Read the Land Ordinance of 1784. 5) Read the title, The footnote 1, the Preamble and Article 1 of CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA-1787. Pause with the Constitution and skip to the ORDINANCE OF 1787: THE NORTHWEST TERRITORIAL GOVERNMENT [THE CONFEDERATE CONGRESS, JULY 13, 1787] An Ordinance for the government of the territory of the United States northwest of the river Ohio. Read through. 6) Now start @ Article II in the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA-1787. Read through. 7) Read, the Constitution of the Confederate states. March 11, 1864. Most people don’t know that in order to understand what the Constitution says, they have to understand the FIRST 3 Organic Laws. The Constitution is the final part of the Organic Laws. The chief purpose of the four Organic Laws is to regulate and control government, not you. When hearing the words “Organic Laws”, you might think they are about food regulation. But they aren’t. These laws are far more important. They are the founding documents of the United States of America, which means no statute or code should conflict with principles set forth in these documents. Merriam-Webster defines “organic” as “of, relating to, or constituting the law by which a government or organization exists”. In the front of Volume One of the United States Code, you will find the heading Organic Laws of the United States of America. The four Organic Laws listed, in the order of their occurrence, are: The Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776 The Articles of Confederation of November 15, 1777 Northwest Ordinance of July 13, 1787 Constitution of September 17, 1787 The Declaration of Independence says there shall be no taxation without our consent. Therefore, this principle should be adhered to in the Internal Revenue Code. In fact, it is! According to the Articles of Confederation, the states of the United States of America are “free and independent”, i.e., sovereign, and yet the federal government seems to be in a dominant position over those states. How is this possible? In each State’s statutes, hidden in plain sight, lies the answer awaiting your discovery. The Declaration of Independence states: “That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”. Clearly, the Organic Laws have established the principle that government needs your consent to govern you. This being true, you should be able to find in the Statutes and Codes how to give your consent. Furthermore, the Organic Laws or the Statutes and Codes should contain an option for those who choose not to be governed. You will find that the Organic Laws clearly provide the way for you to be self-governed. You will also see that with a little sleight of hand, just like a magician, government bureaucrats have you seeing and thinking what they want you to believe. And, they can play the role of innocent while they deceive you, since it is your responsibility to know the law. Government bureaucrats rely on your ignorance of the fact that all written law is limited to a specific subject. For governments, the subject is territory. Thus, Congress cannot write laws for Japan. Furthermore, Congress cannot write laws to regulate you without your consent, unless the United States of America owns the property on which you are located.

Right. This debate continues today between progressives and conservatives. Progressives, under the authority and inspiration of a postmodern worldview, see the world through a lens of us vs them. They do not value individual liberty. Why? Because it all comes down to group membership. And the most important distinctive is between the victim and the victimizer. Everyone then wants to prove their status as victims, because the victims are the good ones. It’s then the victims that are justified in whatever action they desire to take in society. They are above reproach because they belong to the good team. For example they believe they are justified in taking from the rich and giving to the poor, regardless of circumstance, because the rich belong to the victimizer group. They are evil and the poor are good. But that we know not to be true. Economic status is not what defines a persons character. A person is and must be defined by the quality of their character. And even if a person is considered a good person, that does not guarantee them anymore or less rights under the law. All people require equal protection under the law. And again that is why we have due process and the idea that a person is innocent until proven guilty. Otherwise whichever person gathers together the most witnesses in their favor wins. That would spell trouble for the individual who comes up against the collective. That wouldn’t be fair, that wouldn’t be justice. Might is not right.

@@sv3931 From Lil Giant Yes. Before Trump, only 3 States had approval of both legislative branches. 26 States had approval of one branch. Now, 15 States have approval of both legislative branches. 2/3 makes about 32-33 States. Some people are opposed due to concern for a runaway Convention. But 1) the States must submit a mutually acceptable objective before the Convention even starts. 2) Once the details have been ironed out at the Convention-and the States WILL cooperate, because otherwise they will lose the cooperation of the other States, and the Convention will not be successful-3) THEN all the citizenry in each State will vote and decide whether to accept it. There can be no runaway, because disagreement of an adequate number at each step can derail it.

It has only been a few months since this series was published and we now find our great nation in the midst of the type of troubles that Madison warned about. It would be important to remember that John Locke's book "Two Treatises on Government" (1689) had a very powerful influence on American views on government. I believe his book was born from Englands own civil war (1642-1651) and struggle to understand the purpose and limits of government.

These presentations are fantastic. I was a little confused at the end of this one when it was said that Americans descended from the same ancestors? Held the same principles of freedom under this new construct I agree, but weren’t Americans descended from many cultural ancestors. Also, on a side note, I’d love to see this channel cover family court specifically in relation to equality under the law, statutes vs legislation laws and constitutional principles, and why there seems to be such an extreme divergence from constitutional fundamentals. While I would argue that families are a major backbone to civil societies, it seems a travesty that family law is so full of discretion based on privileges instead of rights. Excellent series. Very informative. Interesting comment at 20:00 mark though about police not solving many crimes. I couldn’t agree more with him that there is a failing in the system if they are not pursuing criminals who, by his example, are stealing. Theses are crimes with victims. But the next comment made, I can’t say that I agree with totally.... as a vast majority of cities have extensive budgets granted to them. For example, NYCPD has a budget of over 6 Billion dollars a year. Billion. And LAPD has 10.5 Billion. That’s a huge amount of money, surely enough for the manpower to solve crimes with victims. So budget is not the issue.

I casually came across these lectures as my hand touched something while falling asleep...yet, I was quickly engaged and marvelously awakened by the soothing voices examining in details the history of the constitution, followed by lectures on laws and the fluctuations of the government set up of the United States. I must be honest and reveal that Morpheus fought hard and claimed me a few times, but only for a few minutes...the power of these excellent lectures were greater to my old yet still curious mind very much interested in learning. As a retired educator, I was delighted; and believe you are fortunate to have skillful didactic scholars. Many know much, few can teach so well. I don't know what party I belong to anymore, I was Democrat until well recent democrats, I can't stand Republicans, and I am in 1000% agreement with what the founding fathers thought and felt. In this context, "state" most certainly means the people living and conducting business within the borders of the state. The state governments don't have goods or services to be traded. The people (or businesses) conduct commerce with each other across state lines and that is what is under the purview of the federal government.

Andrew, I don't believe is was intended to be about 'regulating commerce' , I believe it was written (commerce clause) to insure that trade between states was not hampered, that there could be a free flow of goods and services among the states.

Bikers On Call From Lil Giant What was intended by the Founders has been manipulated and re-defined, starting with the Commerce clause, which was expanded beyond belief to mean many things NOT INTENDED by the Founders. The correct way, IF that was intended by the people, would have been passing an Amendment to grant, for instance, the right of the Federal Government to build International roads. But We the People do not rise up and object when the Judges legislate from the bench. We are apathetic. We say, “You can’t fight City Hall,” and we go on with life, letting them gain power not granted- through illicit means-and allowing that Judicial precedent to replace the Constitutionally required passage of legislation and/or Constitutional Amendment.

I heard so much in this lecture and learned a lot. What i heard was that our government, today, considerably lowered the protection of the citizens on priority list. And they are in violation of the constitution for not protecting the citizens from invasion. Nice I also heard that the constitution was written with all people in mind...if that's true, then slavery wouldn't have happened and an amendment would not have been needed because the idealized constitution spoken of here already covered that, as well as the rights of women and races for all their liberties. Was the constitution written from the beautiful idealized state of mind that the lecturer speaks of? Does history show this? Are there many if any who have upheld this? Now I know why life feels so much more unsafe now than it did when I was younger.

This lecture was remarkably informative. We learned nothing of the sort in school as recently as the early 2000’s. Our government has grown so tyrannical and moved so far away from what is described in these foundational documents that we need to take a serious look at what has gone wrong and how to fix it. To make one thing clear, the system of government laid out therein is not the problem. Rather, it is the people in governing positions who’ve so badly bastardized to the point of near treason and in some cases may be so that our country isn’t recognizable any longer. Maybe we need some of these professors sitting on courts to help eliminate this corruption from the system.

Freedom of Religion means many things to many people. It guarantees the rights of Christians, adherents to the Jewish faith, Islam, and even to those who are agnostic. It must be that way so that you and I can worship as we choose. To deny the rights of others opens the way for others to deny our right to worship as we choose. I was raised a Baptist but the stand of evangelicals in recent years has forced me from those churches. I figure that if and when the fire and brimstone starts falling some of our churches might not be the safest places to be.

Or using the political and charitable organizations/systems to feather all the nests of like-minded Socialist/Communist/Globalist organizations and individuals to synergistically increase the power of those working in the Communist Party regime in this country. . . Great subject matter here. Anyone my age or younger likely needs more education on these matters. However, let anyone seeing this in September 2021 understand this, no such government as described here exists in this country at this time. The government described in these lectures no longer exists. In fact, the government in place bares little resemblance to the one described. Our chance to restore the government to its proper place and role is dwindling everyday. Let us hope that we can use these founding documents to restore our government. If we don’t, then we will be trying to establish a new government on the basis of these documents instead. That would be a much more difficult and messy affair. Cheers.
