How are the plants actually laid down? Do they grow from seed or rhizomes or some plants simply uprooted from elsewhere & replanted in the desired spot?

How can this work during the winter when microbial activity is reduced and ice may prevent aerobic breakdown of waste?

Hi, Timothy. This is a great question. I did this presentation for a school assignment, so I am by means no expert on the topic. However, I would expect there to be difficulties during a cold winter time. Using constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment will not work in all cases, but should be considered when possible.
