dude, dont stop, i am always watching your tutorials, i've watched almost everything, contract tutorials, beginer tutorials, (not) beginer tutorials and they all have so much information... If you read this - thank you A LOT and i mean it, you are my main KSP guide, i dont watch matt lowne, he talks too fast so i barely distinguish his words. by the way, can you please make a video about how to dig some ore from .. mun or minmus, transfer it to the orbital station and how efficient it will be, i mean can we use it as fuel hub or smth
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
The video previous to this one had me transferring ore from the Mun's surface to a station in orbit to be refined, but I think the most efficient system is a base like the one you see here, refining the ore on the surface. Just add a lander that can hold a lot of fuel and bring that fuel up into orbit. From there you can take it where you want. This is perhaps a good topic for a future tutorial.

@@MikeAben Oh right, just what I was looking for, thanks) P.S. now, after watching it, I was thinking...what if... capture an asteroid, drag it to the orbital station, dock... and use it as a huge source of fuel... is it even working?
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
@@Lord_earth I've done that. It's not as much fuel as you think. Still fun, though.

@@Lord_earth No tutorials, just streams and an old let's play. In both cases it's over several installments. I'll put a link to the stream where I started a base on an asteroid. A link to the whole playlist is in the description of thar video if you want to dig out more. kzbin.infozJRzflvt5pE?feature=share

Mike, thank you for all the tutorials, they are incredibly helpful! Do you have ships available for download someplace? Thanks again.

Must be so nice to do Eva construction... I have to ship entire bases and then try and wheel them into each other. At least I can travel from the mun base though 🎉

Hey Mike. Did you know you can use the reroot tool on shadow assemblies? (That's what I call parts that aren't attached to the ship yet). And using the offset or rotate tool detaches the part from the shadow assembly. That's something I found out trying to come up with oartcount saving techniques.
@MikeAben Жыл бұрын
I'll have to try that. Thanks.

I'll watch this later, but from the look of the thumbnail it looks like it was built up on the surface. If so, that's how I did my Minmus science base and it was a huuuggeee pain. Fun, but a pain. I had to use a moving rover and landing legs and their spring strength to line up the docking ports on all the pieces of the base. Also I had to set the final spring strength to like .25 or something because on the normal setting that landing legs start with, the base would randomly start to shake lol (and yea I did have some physics wonkiness from the low gravity and sometimes pieces would flip over and I had to reload lol) On the plus side, I used the base module landers to go back into orbit and build up my Minmus relay system lol

EVA construction is a powerful tool. There's a bit of it here, but likely not as much as you think.
@Freak80MC Жыл бұрын
@@MikeAben yea I'm getting around to watching this and the idea of packing parts one way only for Kerbals on eva to basically "unpack" them is brilliant! I've never thought about using eva construction much. Mostly because it seems mostly finicky but I guess when your snapping parts on the end of other parts, it wouldn't be too bad.... I'll have to tinker around myself with this stuff

Hey Mike! A bit of a meta question: Did you happen to change the mike or the sound post-production on the two vids (This one and the one you recommended), as the one from 4 month ago sounds... clearer. Cheaper maybe, but clearer. (It could just be on my side, but I'm curious to see if there was any major change :) ) Thank you for the vids also! Been playing KSP for years and I never managed to land anything bulky, even on low-gravity minmus :(
