Did i miss the the part of other than glue on each row of boards? Screws went in to make a square box but no screws to attach each layer to another? The only hold down was the roof into the layer below it.

why would someone choose wood as an option to protect themselves from a tornado? Not the best idea in the world lol

Easier for DIYers. It's been tested. It'll hold up.

Impact testing indicates that the safe room can resist the most severe impact tests (100 mi/h missile speed) dictated by the ICC/NSSA-500 standard. In addition, lateral load and uplift load testing indicated that the safe room can resist wind pressures resulting from a 250 mi/h wind calculated from wind load design criteria (ASCE 2013).
