We Take Radius More Than Half Because When We Take Half or Less Than Half They Could Not Meet Properly or Join Properly. Longer Arc helps us to make easy mod point.

Taking arc length more than half because of constructing we need to construct as we know that we will get a triangle only in that case when the sum of two sides is always greater than the third side if we didn't take the arc length more than half then it will not form and triangle and the point where the arc intersect will become co linear so if triangle is not form therefore we can't able to justify the construction and also we can't prove them congruent because is not form so area of triangle would be zero in case where the point are co linear .points are co linear when sum of all side will equal to the whole side that's why we take more than half to form congruent triangle and then justify our construction maths is most loving subjects no need to cramp just clear your concept and write it what you felt
