Consumer sentiment softens as economic doubts return

The Westpac Consumer Sentiment survey recorded a mixed finish to the year, dipping slightly as renewed doubts about the economic outlook more than offset a continued improvement in family finances and buyer sentiment. Optimism remains elusive but conditions are much more positive than a year ago, the mood having lifted materially over the course of 2024.
