Fills me with nostalgia. In the '70's I was a teacher in a railway village. Miss those days - I can still hear the sound of the diesel engines at night shunting in the yards

Thanks for sharing so that we who never see real trains can see some! It's great to see your enthusiasm.

Dankie meneer Heidmann.

Just in case the train didn't seem like the same one the 7E brought into town, It is. Some wagons were separated from the train and some Maersk wagons added to it. Some shunting took place but the shunting yard is a dangerous area for railfanning! The oldest AC loco in Africa is actually South African built E7001 and not E7100. Sorry for that one!

The containers look so big compared to the flatbeds!
@reeselourens14598 жыл бұрын
The old flatbeds (flatcars) are are like that all over SA. These are large containers though! :)
@theonetheonlyjj74458 жыл бұрын
Nice! In Europe, that containers are the standard size. We only have shorted ones that are smaller! The flatcars themselves look cool with the little side-panels hanging from them (only some of them have them)! ;)

Thanks for the info! I thought those short containers are only to be found in Britain! And yes, the surely look cool.
