Great review and fantastic presentation. My top tip with this camera is always running it in aperture priority mode set at f5.6 - this seems to be the absolute sweet spot for this lens. In fact f5.6 is highlighted by Contax in green on the aperture ring - probably for this exact reason? Shooting ISO 200 film at f5.6 on a sunny day requires fitting a ND2 or ND4 30.5mm neutral density filter to the lens and adjusting exposure comp +1 or +2, otherwise if the camera requires a shutter speed over 1/500th in full sunshine - it will default to Programme mode and use f11 / f16, which is not ideal. It's a fantastic camera, really ergonomic and amazingly well built. The TVS was originally more expensive than the T2 when new - and it's not hard to see why.

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed. Yes the lens can be incredibly sharp, certain photos blow me away. Especially when using sharper film. The TVS is fantastic and just for an extra stop of light it’s definitely worth saving your money.

Got a tvs long time ago, will never sell it , is AN AMAZING point and shoot , although mine broke after 6 shot after arrived, fixed it with 200 euros and now works like new and take it everywhere.. Very nice review and pictures

Ah yes repair is costly, I once dropped mine and had to replace the door latch. Did it myself and was around $200 AUD. Thanks for watching!

My TVS is my EDC camera. People think bc it doesn't have a prime lens that it's not sharp but I find the zoom to be quite good. Also, love it remembers my exposure compensation and flash settings. 100% underrated camera.

The Lens on the TVS is honestly sharper than a few of my Canon FD primes. I’m astounded by some of the results it can achieve. Thanks for watching!

Best review on youtube for the TVS. All the other videos on here the people reviewing it are not even sure what they're talking about and bash it into bits because it's not the T2

Let me laugh at my expense... I own the contax T since 1984. The marvelous top shutter speed ofb1/500. It does make a descent conversation subject and a slik and good looking paper weight.

Hey there love the video. I have a question about replacing the film counter lcd. Did you have to solder anything? Mine is not working and I have seen the replacements on ebay but I cant find any install instructions. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks again
@analognoise28932 жыл бұрын
I couldn't find any instructions either, I ended up watching Casio watch repair videos. In short, all the parts are drop-in. The flash LCD is soldered on but the counter is very straightforward. Just remove the main screw and you'll be able to lift everything out.

Hello, anyone know what is the usage of the special function “focusing operation” value 0 vs 1 in Tvs ???🧐🧐🧐

Pretty good review. I opted for the tvs ii as it has a bit bigger viewfinder. I use it as an EDC and street photography marvel due to that 28mm lens, manual aperture and zone focus capabilities. It's great with B&W films for street. Currently it's being repaired $$ (that dreaded shutter cable) but it's worth it for me as I love the camera. Some samples on my IG. Cheers from Tokyo!

Thanks for watching! I’d love to know who is doing your shutter cable repair as I have a second TVS that needs this issue fixed.

@@analognoise2893 It's being done here in Japan, not sure if they handle overseas repairs. However, I believe Nippon Photo Clinic in New York repairs them. It's costly but worth it if you can manage it.

Hi. Thanks the great review. I just picked up a TVS and my frame counter LCD has a bit of a leaking issue. I’m wondering how you were able to replace yours? Do you happen to have instruction for this somewhere? Thanks!
@analognoise2893 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ross, I had a look and can't locate any guides for this, unfortunately. However, this can be done relatively easily. Once you get the top plate off you can disassemble the LCD assembly which I believe might not even need screws, drop the new LCD in and then re-assemble.

Nice reviews! It is a good camera to take night pictures?
@analognoise28932 жыл бұрын
It’s not impossible if you load in some film that’s 800 iso or higher, say cinestill or portra 800. However It’ll be easier on a camera with a 2.8 or higher aperture

Portunity to purchase an open box TVS for what I believe is a fair deal. Can I assume that if one is an unused condition. Will the ribbon cable be good since its been unmolested.
@analognoise28932 жыл бұрын
From what I've heard that's a less than ideal situation because lack of use can cause the cable to become more brittle.
@RaneMP20162 жыл бұрын
@@analognoise2893 Ill let you know how it turns out. I ended up buying as it was the cleanest example I could find that included all of the accessories. $650 wasn’t to bad and Willing to take a chance.

What’s the ideal film to shoot daytime ?
@analognoise289311 ай бұрын
anything with an ISO of below 200, the general rule is more Light = lower ISO. I like Fuji C200, Kodak Gold and Colourplus, and also Portra 160. However if you're going in between outdoors and indoors 400 is a good in between, Portra 400 being a good film at that ISO
