Your story is exactly mine. If you're willing to put in the work you can make a 6 figure salary in this field. Single mother of 3, no child support, abusive relationships, college dropout with a semester to go, living in subsidized housing on food stamps, no car, and now making 6 figures and own my own 6 bedroom home with multiple cars and youngest graduating high school... lots of doors will be closed on you because you don't have a degree, but if you keep pushing forward, get your certifications, and get experience you really can have a lucrative career. Prove your worth. Degrees aren't everything. And most definitely KNOW your worth and only compromise if the end justifies the means.

great story! I just met a 40 year old who was living out of her mother's home saying that she spent her "most important" years in India serving a guru, so she got no education other than some Indian astrology. I suggested medical coding to her as a way to get fast cheap education and earn decent living in a fast growing industry, but she said she doesn't like computers... So, I guess, in this country, in this economy, if one is able and healthy, anyone can succeed - and if one is making excuses rather than building a career, it's their own fault and no one else's. Good luck to you and your kids!

I'm just starting schooling for medical billing and coding, pregnant with my first child, and ended up switching gears to this industry so that I could work remotely and take care of the baby. I initially was going to go into the field of nursing, but working from home has its advantages and if I can make 6 figures eventually like you say that I can, I may just end up staying in this field and working towards it! Thanks for the motivation!

@@teddyfla her tests are legit and she also explains everything so well IMO. I bought the ICD 10 CM CPT & HCPCS on Amazon to practice learning how to maneuver thru the books and to answer the questions on her test If u want to purchase I suggest in doing so it will help u be better for when u want to get certified (especially for the AAPC that’s a more expensive difficult exam) How far are you in school with the coding if you don’t mind my asking?

that’s awesome! i already have the books. i had to take a break after i finished learning from an instructor for almost a year. now i’m getting back into it and reviewing. i’ve already paid for an online attempt for the CPC exam and purchased my camera. so after the review, i’ll take it. i’m pushing for some time next month. thank you! i appreciate that and best of luck to you as well! i’m in florida as well and i’m taking it at home, but per the AAPC you have to disable your camera on your PC/laptop and have a stand alone webcam, so i purchased one off of Amazon and it came with a tripod for about 20 bucks and some change and it’s pretty awesome. and yeah, the break was needed, life was coming pretty fast lol. so i didn’t want to rush the test.
