For a long time I lamented you not being on HGTV here in the US but I've come to realize we get to see SOOOOOO MUCH MORE of you on KZbin! Sarah, as always you are ahead of the curve! One of my favorite aspects of your design videos is when you collaborate with Tommy, your team and other trades because it allows for a fun, educational and interesting discussions of design options and choices. Your trip to Ikea with Tommy is a perfect example. Over the years you've shaped the way I approach shopping at "big box stores" and how to strategize my own home decor - thank you thank you! PS The lower level is PERFECT and I'm so excited to see the upper level - savoring each video. Looking forward to more more more of your gorgeous designs and lessons!

What more can I say Sarah Richardson. Mercy me !!! Love, your area rug in oatmeal 💕 Love 💕 The TV room looks smashing.....clearly you didn't need to paint that fireplace.....beautiful. A light and airy yet cozy space......simply marvellous. You are full of design surprises. What did I learn....welllll ......you don't need to replace big ticket features in a room. Maybe lighten the room with paint , replace ceilings etc. if needed and so on. I am a sponge when it comes to your design decisions. Thank you for the education. 📝 🙋🏼 🇨🇦

I love your work Sarah and your furniture designs. It’s nice to see you work around/with “bossy” elements in a renovation. Not everything has to be gutted/ removed. This makes remodelling more affordable and adhering to budgets more realistic. Can’t wait to see the kitchen, laundry room and the principal room.

Only Sarah could make that fireplace work as is. In fact... it looks rather rustic sheek ( yes... I know it’s not spelled like that) Love that the terra-cotta floors were saved. All in all... 200 out of 100. 👍🏽

I am so glad you kept the terracotta floor. If the tiles had been simple squares or rectangles then yes, rip it up. However, I think the layout and shape of the tiles elevates the look thus making it a classic rather than dated.

Wow! Just WOW! I am amazed at how you’ve pulled this together. I was certain the pink granite fireplace and terracotta floors would be history. I am just in love with how all the neutral elements you’ve incorporated totally quiets the fireplace and floors and actually elevated them to a desired feature in this space. I love the furniture, the rugs, the paint color and especially the barn board. It just works beyond anything I could have imagined. IMO one of the most important aspects here is the idea of reuse, recycle and repurpose. Nothing in the landfill and money saved on the budget! Slow clap Sarah 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I'm glad you left the original saltillo tiles and the granite on the fireplace. Those rustic touches really ground the space in the country. I love the fireplace!! With all the quiet colours around it, the awesome Canadian granite just looks so so Canadian!! : )) I also love the tile floor. Such a practical surface for a busy winter/summer entrance. Skiing and snow sports in the winter and the beaches that are amazing in that part of Ontario. I miss visiting my aunt and uncle who had a cottage/home at Wasaga Beach. They are gone now but not the memories of times spent up there.

“It's not winter all year long’...In Florida Sarah, we say, there are only two seasons in Canada, Winter & July. LOL. 😳⛄️🇨🇦 Sarah, Alex, Chris & team awesome job on this home 👏 Love everything you did Sarah. Now I love the fire place too! It’s amazing how changing the wall color & adding gray tone furniture makes the fireplace look fantastic & not an eye sore. This is why you hire an interior designer like Sarah = she’ll save you money There are videos on you tube on how to convert pocket doors to regular doors using the pocket doors. Quite simple & saves a lot of money. Also, I found that snow boot trays are great to put snowy boots/shoes on instead of the floors so that when the snow melts the water is not all over the place for you to walk in with your socks. You can buy these trays at Bed, Bath & beyond (mountain areas) and also online. I think I paid $20 dollars for simple black thick plastic ones, but they can get fancy if you are willing to pay the price (Front gate etc). Then in the summer you can just stack them & put in the closet. That’s what I did for our ski vacation rental home.

Sarah, I so love all of your work (or should I call it passion!). The way you think things through makes so much sense and it's all so beautifully presented. What I'm a little surprised about in this chalet, is the lack of storage specifically for ski equipment! Being so close to ski hills, I would expect some kind of special closet, even, for this type of equipment aside from bins, under-bench or closet. No?
@SarahRichardsonDsgn4 жыл бұрын
Hey Silvia! The equipment is stored within the clients owned lockers at the ski club so storage that catered specifically to skis wasn't needed.

Hello Sarah, I really enjoy your videos thank you for sharing. My question is why do people go for gas fires? There is a lot of wood stored so it must be easy to get the wood to the chalet. Is it a canadian culture thing for gas fires? I am writing to you from England where gas fires are not popular in the country. As far as I know anywhere in England even in town. I am in a rural area and most people go for open fires or wood burning fires. Just interested on the Canadian viewpoint. Gas fires have a completely different aroma to logs or coal. Best wishes from England.
@SarahRichardsonDsgn4 жыл бұрын
Hey Dma55! I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying my KZbin channel! To answer your question I think it comes down more so to preference rather than a Canadian thing. I actually use both wood and gas burning fireplaces in my projects! Both offer great perks however with gas fireplaces comes convenience and ease of use. You push a button and the fire starts! No struggling to get a fire started or trying to control the temperature with how much or how little wood you use. At the end of the day though go with what you like!
