Very smart idea!!! One shots stories but they could have continuation additional chapters. Keep yourself with ideas while pumpin out multiple stories is a cool way to do it

Haha I remember that first video too! I've been finding a similar issue with content marketing as well. So little time to actually create my dang comic!😬

This vid showed up on my fyp and after watching it i took a look at yr channel and decided to sub, based on the indie comics aspect. It doesnt seem like youre in want of ideas for videos but maybe a way to blend it with your productivity is screen recording some of your process and explaining some element like linework, framing, facial expressions, backgrounds etc. theres a ton of aspiring artists on youtube (and in your comments section), so i think "How i do backgrounds (or whatever) for my indie graphic novel" would provide value. Or do storytimes & use process screen recordings for visuals. Ps. Idk if the shadows getting progressively deeper and darker as the video goes on was a conscious choice, but it worked in your favor.

digging these suggestions, ill need to play around and see what i can do with them glad the shadows gave off a thematic vibe, truth is i just took a long time recording haha

You can never do it all but you can come close if you have the balls to try

Alright I just finished the video and I agree that you need to have fun. Simple law of attraction. People want to see someone that is enjoying themselves. That tenet pervades into artistry at insane levels and I’m excited to see where “Ethan having fun” leads 😂

i'm in a similar spot as well. i've taken a break from posting my quite long webcomic to work on other shorter comics instead and its helping a lot!

I love this! I've always dismissed the idea of making one shots as a beginner... but now Im scripting out multiple animated short films and realizing that Im in way over my head 😅 So Im starting with a prologue comic, about 50 pages, to dip my toe into the world and to get used to drawing the characters. It's so fun, and I can be super loose with it, unlike my sceipts, which I need to be as polished as possible. I cant wait to see where your journey takes you next!

I'm personally not great at writing scripts, so I usually choose to write it in a novel form instead. That way, I can come back to an idea when I feel like it and choose to adapt it into a comic format. I think aside from my main graphic novel I'm working on I have at least 2 other series that I plan to bring into the world, one of which is definitely coming. I'm juggling between a graphic novel about cartoon furries saving the world from a weird giant monster, a story about runaway samurai trying to save his dead brother from becoming the new vessel of a banished demon lord, and a tale about little magicless fairy girl who teams up with a powerful immortal sorcerer who is bound to his diary, and then travels to find lost gods over the edge of the world. So I have a few different ideas to turn to and work on in novel form while doing other things lol

its always nice to have a writing project mixed alongside a comic project so you can jump to a different creative outlet when you start to burnout on the other 👌
