Hi Shane Thanks for the great video collection. They were really helpful! Do you have any recommendations on how to migrate workflows (definitions and instances) from a SP 2013 site to a SP 2016 site (with WF manager 2010 and 2013 support)? Thank-you

Hey James, I haven't done that stuff in YEARS. If you want to Tweet me @shanescows I can try to connect you with someone to help. Or if you email me shane at powerapps911 I can connect you with someone else that way. Sorry, I am no help here anymore.

Hi Shane, Great session. could you please suggest in case of WSPs present in sp2013...do we need to install them first in sp2016 and attach DB OR after attaching DB in sp2016 do we have to install WSPs...please suggest.

Been a long time but I usually installed the first.

Hi Shane. Very simple and easy to follow video. I just have one question. I did all the steps and my test-spcontentdb success and mount-spadmincontentdb success. However, I expect a site count to 1, but it's showing zero. 0 site count. What will be a issue here.

It is has been too many years for me so I am no help, sorry. Hope you figure it out. Start by checking the logs. My guess is the site didn't upgrade for some reason.

hi Shane! nice video! can you please provide the steps for how to upgrade the service applications databses to 2016 share point server like this cross domain scenario.
@duffmandje Жыл бұрын
Hi Shane, first of all huge thanks for all your videos. I've got a question: one thing I'm not clear about, is whether or not we should use the same approach for app services DB's such as Managed Metadata Service, Search Service, Usage etc... or should I just create new ones and replicate any settings and let SP do its thing, many thank :-)
@ShanesCows Жыл бұрын
It is up to you. If there is meaningful info then upgrade them, if you can easily recreate then I prefer new databases. :)

Thanks Shane. Great video. The mount-spcontentdatabase may take days for big content databases, but the business won't be happy to wait for SharePoint for days. Do you have any advice to help this process shorter/faster?
@ShanesCows3 жыл бұрын
A lot of people end up using a migration tool like ShareGate so they can move things over in a less "all at once" process.

Very good video. Was very useful instrumental in the conversion process. It is hard finding guides that are fully Share Point 2016. The only thing I have noticed after change over is that the personal sights are not acting right. They act like they have not been initialized before and get stuck on the initializing phase. (This includes one drive also) Any ideas?

No. :( I haven't done personal sites for 2016 yet. I will try it out this week and see what I can find out. If you figure it out let us know.

We copied the backed-up folder from SQL 2013 server; and pasted it directly into different SQL 2016 server. I was wondering how is that possible? Anyone help please!!

The MDF and LDF files are a known format. So when you attach to them with SQL Server it does what to do with them. The SQL team has done a great job making things like that go very smoothly. 😎

You don’t have to migrate the sites. Up to you. You can automate it with PowerShell

@@ShanesCows : Hello Shane. First of all, thank you so much for your helpful videos. Just have a quick clarification. So, this is how we can actually migrate all the sites from SharePoint 2013 to 2016 and I believe same can be used for any type of SharePoint migration. Please confirm if my understanding is correct for the steps followed. 1. In SQL 2013, create a back-up of WSS_Content DB 2. Copy the back-up and move that back-up to SQL 2016 server folder 3. Restore the same 4.Test and mount the database
