Its clear that the star and crescent predates Islam (some say it originated in Sumeria) and at some point later was adopted (probably by the Turks/'Ottoman'. the moon god argument has been refuted in debates with Shabir Ally with Robert Morey who proposed this argument many years ago. The Arabs believed in Allah as the high god, the creator of the universe. The other idols they worshipped were supposed to act as intercessors with Allah on their behalf which is still classed as polytheism which is why they opposed the prophet muhammed pbuh because he came with pure monotheism. The arabs didnt have an idol for Allah. The moon god was worshipped in South Arabia and had a different name altogether, a long distance away from central Arabia where Mecca is located.

Dwight we pray towards the qaaba for a direction of prayer. we dont pray to the qaaba in mecca. If tomorrow somebody moved the kaaba then to another location in the world our direction of prayer would not change. also people used to stand on the qaaba and give the call to prayer. So If we prayed to the kaaba and revered it as an idol then I dont think people would stand on it. It is a building like any. other building, it is rebuilt and maintained structually. Also in the lifetime of the prophet the direction to prayer was Jerusalam, (Bait tal maqdis) and then the command was given through the revelation to change the direction towards mecca. Muslims always told me Allah knows everything and his knowing is infinite. Ibrahim had to clean the House of these idols and of Idle worshippers. He told the people that this was a symbolic house of God. God does not live there for He is everywhere. People did not understand this logic and no sooner had Ibrahim died the people, out of reverence, filled the place with idols again. They thronged to this place annually and worshipped their personal gods, It was over Four Thousand years later that the last of the line of prophet (S), Muhammad Ibne Abdullah entered Makka triumphantly, went inside the Ka’aba and, with the help of his cousin and son in law ‘Ali Ibne Abi Talib, (as) destroyed all the idols of Ka’aba with their own hands. At one stage of this destruction of idols, the tallest of the idol Hubbol was brought down after ‘Ali had to stand on the shoulders of the Prophet to carry out God’s orders. The Prophet of Islam was reciting the Verse from the Qur’an:“Truth hath come and falsehood hath vanished.” (17:81)This was done in the 8th year of Hijra, January 630 AD after the bloodless victory at Makka by the Prophet of Islam.

Gary is lying (1)... The Bible, in the Chapter of Genesis describes its building when God ordained Abraham to erect a Shrine for worship when Abraham was ordered to go to the Southern desert with his wife Hagera and infant son Ismael.

My Lord is indeed the Hearer of prayer. My Lord! Make me establish regular prayer, and some of my posterity (also), our Lord! And accept my prayer. Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents and believers on the Day when the account is cast." (Quran 14:35-41)
