The thing I love about 'the clock game' was(and the producers had to do this, or the game would not have been feasible) that once you narrowed the range down(ie, you said 5,365 and Bob said Higher and then you said 5,400 and Bob said Lower) then all you had to start doing was adding up from 5,365 by saying '66, 67, 68, etc, until you got the right price...you didn't have to say the full number(ie, 5366, 5367, 5368 etc)... it was common sense, everyone knew what was going on, brilliant.

That's one of the rare times that TPIR had a car on the clock game, at least you didn't have to do the whole thing, just the hundreds of dollars

I don't think they've ever tried doing four digit prices for Clock Game since (that general time frame)...hence why they did the $1000 bonus a couple decades or so ago and now the bigger middle prize is included if you get both smaller ones. Tip: For the second prize, make your first bid $999. It nearly always is that or really close.

And also a bittersweet sad day when GSN lost the rights to this show after this episode aired back in 2000 (I'm sure a lot of fans were not happy about that and we thought well one day they'd air it again but then after a few weeks we gave up). Yes they did air some later seasons (mainly Season 15 and 20), but it was like a contract can only go for so long. At least the good news is the reruns have come to light again and we're seeing stuff that we haven't seen in so long.

Unfortunately, the current regime refuses to use 4-digit prizes like here because they claim it's "too confusing" - despite the fact they were giving the first digit. Playing for these kind of prizes would allow this game to be played a little more often..

They did have a car as the bonus prize for winning both prizes a couple of times in the Drew era. In 1998, the Barker era added a $1K bonus for those who won both prizes, since playing pricing games for less than $2000 in swag probably seemed "cheap" by that point. They dropped the $1K bonus and added the bonus prize a couple years into the Drew era, I think.

Somehow today,so many would be confused with this concept. If you said car is between 13000 and 14000, to get them to know to say 299 or 596 for 13299 or 13596, they'd be lost. Common sense declined
