Dream or not, he was in costume, he did fight villains, and it is in an official comic book so that does make him the first spider-man that is black and not Peter before Miles.

@@leo2nd261 I fully agree with this, yeah. Even if it was a dream, we still got a little glimpse of what was to come… like three decades later haha

@@optionzmenu they used that story for the miles ps4 game, Peter had to go out of town so miles took his place for a while.
@optionzmenuАй бұрын
@@Tooons_Animatics Huh I didn’t even think about that. You think it was just a coincidence or was it really a call out? Because if it’s a callout that’s some crazy obscure Spidey knowledge from the team.
@Tooons_AnimaticsАй бұрын
@@optionzmenu I don’t think it’s a coincidence because insomniac has plenty of details in their games, They like to call out certain pieces of Spider-Man media. Plus, they couldn’t really use much from the comics ( mainly because the way miles is in the comics already has been used in the mcu for Peter ) so they probably used this as a blueprint.

Fun video, but here’s the real facts: The first black person to become Spider-Man was actually Hobart “Hobie” Brown, alter-ego of The Prowler, frequent ally and adversary of the webhead. He stood in as Spider-Man in issue #87 of The Amazing Spider-Man in an effort to protect Pete’s identity, similarly to how James Rhodes would stand in as Iron Man to protect Tony’s identity before he became War Machine proper. I’m also sure that ASM #87 predates this book by about four years.
@optionzmenuАй бұрын
Oh nice I had never read this issue but you’re right. It did predate this one by four years wow! I appreciate you bringing this up I wonder why it’s not talked about more often actually.

First, I want to say thank you. I remember this comic from way back, and you going over it the way you did made me also remember how much fun comics used to be. Nowadays, comic companies (writers, artists, everyone connected) take themselves too seriously. Every story has got to be some multi-dimensional, cosmic, inner angst drama about everything and nothing simultaneously. THIS COMIC... this comic just made me smile. I've given you a thumbs up, I've subscribed and I'll be back. Thank you
