My childhood memories were playing continental songs on our stereo and I would sing along to most tracks and then had the utmost privilege to witness them in a live concert when they came to Suva Fiji prob 1984...oh what a pleasure t'was to see and hear them live. Listening to these tracks today takes me right back to my living room where I first heard these very same tracks....thanks mum n dad for introducing them to me and my sibs when we were yay high❤❤❤❤

I wanted to be a Continental Singer from the time I heard "The Apostle" as a new Christian at the age of 12. In 1994, at the age of 27, I finally auditioned and toured as a Continental Singer! Thank you Lord for a dream come true! These old songs still get my feet a tapping! How I miss the good ol' Continental sound. There's just something about it...!

This album brings back some fond memories. I was there when they rehearsed and recorded some of these songs at Arrowhead Springs in San Bernardino back around 1981. They gave me this album as a gift for transprting them around in my bus. I lost mine when I moved, so it sure was a great surprise to find this. Thank you.

Group O came to Singapore in 1982,. The director was Brian Mulder. I still have the photograph autographed by the singers. Between 1981 and 1984, I was involved with the logistics whenever the singers visited my country. Perhaps I'll share my experience of the even in 1982t. From Singapore, the singers went to a town called Kuantan on the east coast of West Malaysia. The singers travelled by coach from Singapore, but there was no room for the equipment. So the equipment were taken separately. There were three of us guys who travelled with the equipment. Currently there is a highway from Singapore to Thailand. But this was highway was not yet constructed then. The eastern and western part of West Malaysia is seperated by mountains. So at a small town called Gemas, which is about 180 km north from Singapore, the road splits, one going east, and the other going west. We took a train from Singapore to Gemas, and from there we had arranged for a truck to meet us at the railway station to pick us up. The journey by road from Gemas to Kuantan is more than 8 hours by truck. When we arrived at Gemas, the truck was nowhere to be found. After waiting for more than an hour, I stood watch over the equipment while the other 2 guys went to make alternative arrangements to transport the equipment. Fortunately they were able to get one with an open back and the size was just sufficient to load everything right up to the height of the cab. The cab could only seat the driver and one passenger, so two of us, had to get at the top of those crates, lie flat on our stomachs, and hold onto the front of the cab, exposed to the elements. As time was running late, we went the whole journey non stop, with two of us on top of the boxes. And because of time constraint, the driver drove quite fast. The road was bumpy, and we had to endure with the discomfort of our bodies pounding against those hard cases. Each time the truck turned, the centrifugal force would cause our bodies to swerve in the opposite direction, and we had to hold on for dear life for the whole 8 hours. There was no way to communicate with the driver who was inside the cabin. Fortunately, it did not rain heavily, though there was a slight drizzle during a part of the journey. we arrived intact, and I had lived to tell this tale. Looking back, it was worth it all, as our efforts were appreciated by the singers, and some of them wrote beautiful words in the autograph.

At 17, In Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, my mom took me to watch Maranatha Continental Singers concert. At the end of the concert, my mom took me to the back of the auditorium to meet the singers. I never forget that concert as I felt God so deeply touched me even though I did not ask Jesus into my heart because I knew no christian until I was 23. I listened to this album repeatedly for 2 years, a cassette, until it completely broke. There is one song missing here, “one more song” I think is the title? So glad I found this last night 🤗

@@jubil555 Thanks to the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. May we as we entrust our lives to Him, may we have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus and may we stand clean before God. Our job in this world is to share the gospel with anyone who wants to hear it. The Holy Spirit will help us and give the words. The time is right to share the gospel. The harvest is great, but the workers are few!

The grandpa's song (28:16): couple of minutes ago I came across this beautiful piece: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZfYeoCvmphkfdk by Erik Satie (Gymmopedie No. 1) and instantly I realised I know the tune! But it took me a while to find out what it was - the opening chords and notes of a Continental's song - back from my childhood. What a beautiful music - both of them. :) It brings me memories of... traveling with my parents, at the back seat of our car, at night... it was a long journey...

In 1984 I attended a small concert by the Continental Singers and bought a cassette of Continental Country. After about 23 years of listening to it, it finally broke and I tried hard to find another, with no luck. A few days ago my husband was going through some cassettes that his mother left when she passed away and found a copy of it. One of my very favorites and I still know the words! Is there a way to get a CD of Continental Country?
