I truly enjoyed watching how to install the tire the hard way. It's really nice to see how both ways one can do it. We viewers also want to see how not to. We learn from this. I'm in the process of ordering them in too, for my road bike. I've got continental Ultra Sport 28Cs on my bike and just love them. But sometimes I need to get off the pavement and the Gators might just do the trick. We really have crappy roads here. Thanks, great vid.

No problems, Gatorskins going strong and no flats or readjustment of the tire. Thanks for watching

Hard way? This looks INCREDIBLY simple compared to what I'm going through, which is why I'm watching these videos; trying to find out why I'm having so much trouble.

Did you make sure you didn't put the tire on backward. I believe it is built to roll in a certain direction. Check the pattern on the tires. There should be an arrow indicating forward roll.

I think I talked about that but if not thanks for adding the information. I think most tires have a directional arrow and also thanks for watching

Dude, you used those old inner tubes? 😅
@trexmobile17 ай бұрын
For sure lol if they hold air no reason to replace them but they where stuck to the rim tight I might still be using one in the front tire still😝

Some tires are just hard to get on. I've been there.

I would never consider a tire with a gash like that to be considered good. It cannot be repaired and you would risk a blowout using it again when you're running high air pressure. You need to look to see if the tire is directionable before installing. There is usually an arrow on the sidewall that would indicate the direction. Also you risk damaging the tube if you're not careful with the tire levers when working the final section of tire into the rim.

Really difficult to watch this guy struggle so much fitting the tyre! Continental do a great video on how to fit similar tyre on KZbin. You should always fit one side of the tyre to the rim first then slightly inflate the tube and then insert the valve into the rim and then simply run the tube inside, its then a case of gently folding the other half of the tyre into the rim. Semi inflate and then check the tire and tube are sitting correctly.

The tube and tire stay in place better if you lay the wheel down flat on the floor, imo.
@zacjohnson44112 жыл бұрын
Brother this is the hard way, and your valve stem is obliqued (crooked) With this tire, being such a tight fit , do one side, pack the tube, then fit the other side Doing it this way is an easy way to get a pinck flat

The Gatorskins (folding type) when on extremely easy in comparison to the Conti 5000s they replaced (got a big hole in the tire with only a few hundred miles) Went back to the gatorskins, didn't even need a tire lever.
