Once you find the right tyre pressure, these tyres are fun, fast and addictive. I have ridden over 5000km on varied terrain and I am just about to change the rear again for the third time. Front is still OK. I weight 105kg and never had a puncture but always got flats on gravel king sk and schwable g1 all-round. No tyre is perfect but this one is 90% there for me.

I’m 77kg / 170 pounds and with 50/50 gravel/road use my rear tire shows extreme wear after 600 mi/1000km. I don’t think there’s ANY way I’ll get more than 1500km/ 1000 mi out of the rear tire. 😢 Otherwise I love them! They’re great but mine wear down SO quickly.

Odd .. seen a review of these tyres done in Australia called Live fast Die young saying the tyres have a very poor wear rate

Ride Adelaide is a friend, I know him well, I haven't seen his review, but his work is valid. I cannot speak for where he rode, but Adelaide is my home town, lots of variances in road conditions, ditto for where I rode. I experienced good wear, my samples may have been from a later / improved batch? Lots of factors.

I waited a long time for an additional set of cream 40's to arrive, but it was handy they arrived on the Ridley in December 2020.

Hi Jojo - I had used them for cross in 35mm and tried them on Class II/III gravel and did not like them. Very hard, stiff feel, compared to the Panaracer GravelKings I normally ride. They stayed on my wheels for one ride only.

@perandersdahlstrom2846 Жыл бұрын
I recently bought a pair of Terra Speed 35mm. At 417gr they are signifcantly heavier than advertised ( 360gr) How is this possible? My tires don’t have that e_bike symbol. Does that mean I bought an older tires? Kept them anyway as I wanted to see how they perform.

Thinking about using these for BWR: SD. Do you know if they’re compatible with hookless rims? Thanks!
@drouleau Жыл бұрын
From what I can tell, they're not hookless compatible according to Conti (but that hasn't stopped people from running Conti tires on hookless rims). I'm going to be running the 35mm Terra Speeds on my bike for BWR SD. Seems like a good tire in what little I've used it.
@aussiefreediver Жыл бұрын
@@drouleau I ended up going with 40mm due to the rain damage, added length and more gravel this year. Time will tell!
@drouleau Жыл бұрын
@@aussiefreediver Yeah, although I think they might reduce more gravel sectors (I believe they already have as the course changed this past week and may change again) this year due to the damage, hopefully they don't remove more. Last time I did BWR SD was back in 2018 and was on 40mm Clement X'Plor tires....which were fine for the off-road bits, but slow on the road. The Terra Speeds should be much more ideal, although I wouldn't really want to go any skinnier than 35mm. I did notice that the Conti's do bite into the sand a bit, likely due to the more narrow width and tread. I originally was going to use my Rene Herse Barlow Pass tires (which measure about 41mm on my wheels), but file treads don't really give any traction on the steep uphill and downhill sections. I hope with all the rain though, there won't be much sand.
@aussiefreediver Жыл бұрын
@@drouleau Agreed. Sand sucks. First gravel race so excited to see what comes with it. Really wanted to go 35's but thought better to play it safe. If it's any consolation I hit 45.1mpg coming down that final descent before the finish yesterday. So I guess the 40's roll well enough.
@drouleau Жыл бұрын
@@aussiefreediver I had to check my Strava, but assuming it's the same road descent as in 2018, I hit 46.1 mph and was passing people out on road bikes/tires lol. I actually have that ride on my YT channel if you want to check it out, and the road descent is in it.

Can you tell why did you think the terra speed has good longevity? Like in how many kilometers before you think the tire needs changing?
@GravelCyclist2 жыл бұрын
I rode it for its intended purposes, on mixed surface roads, and very little pavement. I expect some of other reviews out there rode more pavement? I don't recall the km count exactly, the review was a while ago, but well over 2,500km.
