Continuing My County Peaks Challenge and Off Grid Campervan Upgrades

We head down to Taunton to have some upgrades made to the new van. On the way we continue my challenge of cycling up the highest peak in each UK county. Some very muddy conditions add to the challenge this time.

part of the Oxfordshire landscape for 3,000 years. The Uffington Horse stretches 374 feet from the front hoof to tail. Its stylized shape was often taken to be a dragon, in fact, the very dragon killed by St. George on nearby Dragon Hill. Other local myths claim that it visits a local well every night and every 100 years gallops across the sky to a nearby farrier. Archaeologists, however, believe it was originally the symbol of a prehistoric tribe staking their land rights.

Good day Mr Ryder. Fascinating video. I notice your comment on the cows. I understand people get nervous around them but they are fine and that wasnt a bull. Cows ride each other all the time, when they get to be adult its a sign the cow is in season and a sign toa bull. Most farmers don't put a bull in a field and of they do they are suppose to put a sign but anyway. I used to work on a farm. Nice mention for Ron. I've been following him too. Also funny you should mention going off grid. I'm just about to make our motorhome more off grid. Great video Matt. See you on a hill.

Hi Graham. I had no idea that cows exhibited that behaviour. I should have carried on. Interesting to hear that you are modifying your van too. Anything to stay off campsites is worth it for me. Cheers.

Nothing wrong with The Projects bikes, it's where I grew up with mine, bikes so tough that they never got punctures! 😁 That wasn't a bull mounting the cow, it was another cow 'bulling' another cow. It means one of them was in heat and when the farmer sees that happening he will put Daisy on a blind date with Bertie the Bull. That looked to be a friendly herd too but better safe than sorry (I used to be a herdsman). Great spec van, very self-sufficient 🚙👍

@@matryderadventures yes, I've also been a shepherd and, in France, a goat herder (only temporary as a goat herder, unfortunately). I've had many, and very varied, jobs and those three are quite normal compared to some of them! Cheers 👍

@@matryderadventures Mrs Paddler frequently suggests that I should write a book about my past exploits, but to validate some of them I'd have to name (well known) names. I'm now just quite a dull person that lives for the outdoors 🙂🚴‍♂️🛶⛰🏕🎯 Edit; I'd like having a channel but it would involve too much time in editing, as I don't have a Ross 📽🎬

🤣 I would definitely read your book if you wrote it. I 100% wouldn't have a channel without Ross. The idea of sitting at a computer looking at my own face for hours at a time appals me.

Hey Matt. Just watching your latest challenge. When you get to Leicestershire, the highest point is in our village. We also have a great cycling and mountain bike community but we try to keep it secret 😀. Feel free to get in touch and if you need a place to park,we have a big driveway.

Well that's the summer jinxed 🤣🤣. It's not ideal conditions but I'd rather be pushing through the mud than sitting indoors. I bet you're the same.

I should have continued on. I genuinely thought they were bulls but have been advised that cows do that to each other when they're on heat. You live and learn.
