First 100% understand that man you have all my respect for undertaking this vsstcally by yourself for the first time, no help, tight budget, (your words) and not all the proper tools to make certain your walls were spot on. That said after starting a Timberframe build plan found I was $200K short so weighed out ICF for the walkout and log or timberframe on the main and 2nd floors. In the end I decided to ICF the basement and 1st floor however we have a “castle” round staircase on the SW corner of the house 2 story’s tall that once I got into the mechanics needed to do it all with rebar and banding the Foxblocks or Nublovks (which ever brand you want) it’s just a PITA and found a guy to pour our 60x90 basement old-school for half the price of Foxbocks and my GC as I started as the GC but my back blew out and has fusion surgery 2 weeks after they poured the basement and was racing the weather here in the Rockies and they framed 2800 in 2x6 exterior and 2x4 interior in a month for $44K. I now have the stone and stucco guys on-site after we did windows. My question is would you go this route again? Why 4”? With what I’m guessing is 12,000 lbs in trusses with a single 2 story pole? I hope you ran it by an engineer? (Only seen this video so no clue if you’ve finished and all is well - but I have watched prolly 100 ICF videoes over the past 2 years and one day I was sold the next day I wasn’t. My stucco/stone guy saved the day by charging only $3 ft for 1” cut stone (not fake just that thinner. Some places charged $44/ft! And all in on stucco that was gonna be either cedar shingles or wood siding he did for $7/foot. That’s the price of STL tone alone and came out 10x better than I first thought as the original plane was all stone 2 stories but was overkill. The stucco looks better and compliments the stone colors perfectly so happy with that. After he does 2 indoor fireplaces and a half wall out front he’s done and we’ll be airtight once the roof is finished. Then work on the interior over the autumn and fall. Do I. Wish I’d gone If? Can’t say I am. Blow outs are too common and y tray should sub the setup (plum and leveling) and pour to guys that have done hundreds. Yes I’m screwed on insulation but not a fan of SIP panels and tracing a leak post build is near impossible so we went with TNG and Timberframe on the center section of the house. Easily the most expensive part of the build vs the kitchen on the left wing and beds ajd bath on the right. It just worked out best that way as the house anchors off the center Timberframe. But that third cost more than the other 2/3rds. So go figure. Anyway. I tip my hat to your ingenuity and fortitude but between this build and the “castle” video where a guy built 186 half moon Foxblovks by hand. I’m like I can do this in word at half the cost and a 1/10th the time. He’s still plugging away after a year. But looks amazing so credit to him for his hard work but my god hand form half circle forms and rebar plus it’s like 4 stories? He’s a glutton for punishment! I’ll see in other videos if you’re done yet. Peace.

Great work👍🏼! I’m starting a couple basements soon so this has been very helpful. I know you mentioned it was about $25-30k for the basement, but have you totalled up how much it cost to build the house? How many sq ft of wall is there in total? Also, why use 4” when the margin of error is so tight?

What did you do about the voids under the middle of the big window bucks? I left a cutout in the 2 x14 window buck bottoms so o could fill them with concrete.

How do you calculate how many yards of concrete you need
@andersonpropertymaintenanc952
@andersonpropertymaintenanc952 11 ай бұрын
The same way you would calculate for a regular wall. Linear feet of wall x height of wall by the thickness to get your cubic feet. And then divided by 27 because there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard. Then you deduct volume of your openings of all your windows and doors and then once you have your final calculation you add 1 yard for extra material in case there are variations in your thickness and also so that the pump truck has enough material to prime. A couple hundred dollars extra is nothing in this scope of the cost of the project. And if you had to order an extra yard and that extra yard would cost you three times as much as if you would have just ordered it to begin with
