Btw because I've been getting a lot of comments about it: I do know the deco for this part isn't amazing. I'm not aiming for this to be rate worthy, and the main focus is on the gimmick and the gameplay. I'm going for early 2.1 vibes for the deco, so stuff like the block design being basic was completely intentional. That being said, I appreciate the feedback and I will go through and improve the part a little in the next episode, probably tweaking the colours and adding a bit of air deco / background :)

Hey Tride, I have a really good idea for the robot section of the level. You could make the background science lab-ish and replace the bricks with "shelves" of some sort. This would really match with the science beakers.

Fun idea: the objects still pulse with the beat, but their hue matches the counter’s. Also, some variation in that part’s block patterns would be nice, even if it’s the same design. Weirder idea: have screen-looking things displaying the counter as air/background decoration. That would work well with the force field (and make it feel slightly less out-of-place).

14:44 instant count trigger is checks when something happens but a count trigger is checks every frame

Instant count trigger checks once, at the specific time you pass the trigger. (so any potions you collect past where the instant count trigger is located won't matter at all.) Also, instead of creating the spawn loop, you could have selected "Multi Activate" on the count trigger! It is good to see trigger gameplay created in video. Don't shy away from more advanced stuff than this later on in the level though! It's fun to come up with a complicated idea and then try to figure out how to make it happen.

Ooh interesting yeah that makes sense, instant count is an instant check in that moment, whereas count triggers are constantly checking. I'll def multi activate the count triggers, thanks heaps for clarifying!

Haven't seen pickups been used in levels in forever, for some reason it's such a little gimmick that I actually enjoy (when used correctly and not just a single key used to unlock a coin, the key not even being necessary as the coin could have just been put there instead of the key)

This part is looking great! One issue is that for the idea that every victor takes a different path you might need to get rid of the coin (most victors will probably try the coin for an extra challenge).

the barrier triggers have to be a bit more to the right because you can still collect some of the collectibles while its working so it could break(they have to be more to the right than the last collectible)

hey tride! could i maybe suggest doing a different font for the letters and numbers? this would also allow you to change the colours without the black outline and would look especially nice with some blending colours and glow underneath - but if this font better suits your vision then im all for it :)

That went really well!!! But i feel like it would be natural for the player to be looking at the platforms which should pulse the colour of the flasks instead of background. This also means the backgroung can better link the 1st lart to the 3rd oart better. Great vid tride

difficult to implement but you can use fake spikes and collision triggers to make the hitboxes of things really small by scaling down the collision trigger on the player
