"Alegria" is a word that roughly translates to an expression of Joy/Happiness/Rapture. It's been used in the context of circus productions many times, to name whole shows (Such as "Alegria" by Cirque du Soleil) or for individual acts, smaller touring productions or in this case, title a Portuguese variety show -with a twist.
An audience of children would experience a lineup of circus performances with mini games and polling-type experiences tossed in-between to keep their attention for roughly 1 hour+
In this episode, aired originally on March 13th, 1993, we find a familiar face in "Linda Mary", now three or four years evolved from her previous known television appearance in "O Pai Natal Chega Sempre".
The most apparent change (Apart from hair colour/styling and some costuming elements) is a tidal wave of great confidence and feminine charisma. Transitions between act segments are far more graceful and fluid, and some of the coordination issues from the last appearance during the poses themselves have been polished up significantly.
Despite a technical conformity to "the classical style" of the period (top hats and long cigarettes and fishnets and so on), Linda Mary makes the routine fully her own with her special personality, making this one of the Blink Age's classic clips.
It is also interesting to note how the hosting clown not only introduces Linda Mary, but continues to lay commentary and hype on top of her act while it is in-progress. This may be a less common regional circus tradition, or more likely a device to ensure that the children remain focused and clued-in to what's going on.
