The Castlevania collection for the pc is a piece of crap: blurry emulation (blurrier than existing emulators runing at 240p) , cant go into full screen, no selectable resolutions for anything, you can't exit the game! I know M2 has been great all these years but they are overwhelmed with work and the worst thing is that they seemed to have become greedy doing all these stuff for all these different companies on different platforms.

It’s the same game tho. I’m disappointed in this collection. Nearly 6 of these games are basically the same game, just different ports and from different countries. Super Contra was overrated and arcade version is even worse. Contra Shattered Soldier and Contra Rebirth should have been a given. 2awesome games that are not here. Come on.

Yup for me lack of contra 4 is the only downside. I'm no nes/arcade guy, I play games from psx to modern mostly, and contra is the oldest game that i truly enjoy. And i love that there are Save states because you can learn layouts without much frustration, and then play the way is meant to be played.

One of the differences in the Famicom version of Contra happens in the first level. The trees in the upper part of the level sway in the wind. They do not do this in the NES version.

I recorded this way early in the day. I saw the Rogue Corps trailer on a small screen and thought it looked ok. Then saw it on my PC monitor and was like wtf is this an N64 game? I have lost interest after really watching the trailer in good quality, yeah man this game is looking ugly. Hopefully it will get straightened up, but doubt it.

For anyone on the fence, this is $7.99 right now. My 8 year old loves playing Alien Wars on my SNES Classic, so I’m gonna jump on this. As far as differences, the Probotector series was made due to violence concerns in Europe. Robots fighting and dying was better than humans in their eyes. The Japanese version had some graphic differences, like trees blowing, that the US didn’t get.

I miss those box arts, especially Contra III, also SNES Turtles In TIme box art, they looked nothing like the in game play but it supplemented alot of creative imagination into the mythology of games.

Bro...look at the freaking title screen! There is a roaring fire behind the title for starters. The background has trees blowing in the wind and that sound is way more crisp! I am buying this tonight on my Xbox One X. I got my Castlevania Collection on my PRO with the other Castlevania titles 1-Symphony of the Night in one place! I decided to forego buying in the Switch as both Microsoft and Sony are doing BC with their new consoles. That is a huge deal maker right there for me! ;)

While I mentioned my Xbox One X we also have two PSPRO'S as well and wish Sony kept up with backwards compatibility like Microsoft is doing right now. Both companies have now pledged full BC for PS4 and Xbox One. Meaning every game released for the Xbox One and PS4 line of consoles are going to be playable on the Xbox Scarlet and PS5 respectively. Hopefully it will be like the One X and enhance the games considerably. Many of the Xbox 360 and original Xbox games now display in beautiful 4K on the One X...it's just amazing to me.

The Japanese version of Contra has more details (such as the leaves are waving at Stage one, snows blowing at Stage 5). The US version these are just static.

My favorite difference with the famicom version of Contra was the intro and outro cutscenes, plus the ghosts n goblins style map scroll b4 stages. It provides much needed context of the story of the NES contra. Cuz back in the day, I loved it but I always thought it lacked story. Plus the awesome swaying palm trees in the jungle stage. Little touch but ive always thought it's the far superior version.

The japanese Contra for famicom has cutscenes, a level layout and extra animations. Look at the animated trees in the first level, the usa and pal versions don't have this. There's more then that in later stages to, the alien level looks really cool imo in the japanese version

Hope they improve the emulation on Contra Hard Corps for the Sega Genesis Mini. There are some noticeable audio issues here for Hard Corps, as well as some other issues I've noticed, such as one of the late game bosses (when defeated) causes a brief lock-up and then just disappears out of existence once defeated. Granted, a lot of people probably won't notice because they won't make it that far in the game, and/or they are too far removed from the original game to recognize some of the audio issues, but I certainly noticed.
