Im a deadly..and im really really good at this game...bad thing is i happen to die once on boss..sry guys :(

i find it funny how as a kid i found this game to be really hard, and then i found all the little places to stand in the boss fights so you dont get hit, now its a cakewalk xD, at least til the later levels. those are brutual

oh man I loved this game back in the day. I was pretty good at it too. I always played as the robot because he was shorter and had that double jump. This game is almost all boss battles. Doesn't get any cooler than that!

Awesome heavy metal soundtrack, amazing sound fx and graphics, multiple campaign levels and endings, badass character designs, and absolute horrific and disturbing enemies, mini-bosses, and memorable boss battles. All done more than a decade ago. Why are so few games these days like this?

Also, this looks like it was a fun game. I feel so bad that I missed out on this back in the day. But knowing the difficulty setting in Contra games, I bet this was as hard as hell. Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching you play through this. You did pretty well. And Fang has a nice pair of shades.

I'll say, Fang is a pretty cool character. I like how he has two robotic arms with one of them being a heavy duty machine gun. And of course, he's a wolf. And I love wolves. Two bad though that this is the only Contra game in history that's ever introduced a furry as a playable character.

Anyway... great vid. Not my favorite path through the game, though. I always preferred fighting the Bahamut boss, simply because it was awesome when he fires the weapon at the surface and you see the "shockwave". Well... it was awesome back in the day, at least. The entire game had incredible boss sequences, though... the doctor right before the Bahamut boss, the train boss, the morphing boss on the river, etc, etc. Good memories. :)

@WeepBeforeYouSleep Take a look at the Action DooM total conversion for DooM. It's a homage to Metal Slug, Contra and side scrolling shooters in general, and it's absolutely phenomenal. The gameplay translates into first person very well, and I'd like to see more FPSes done in that style.

Dude, how do you set up your controller for this game? (compare to a playstation, I set A to Circle, B to X , and C to Square... although I always mess up changing the weapon because it ends up changing the shot type...) After watching this video every now and then through the last 3 years, I gotta say good job man. You've created a whole legion of Contra Hard Corps fans, as well as many fans of Fang.

It's the Genesis one. Many people argue that it's better than Alien Wars, because of the multiple paths. There's also Neo Contra, the two (three maybe?) shitty games on the PS1, Contra 4 on the DS and a number of remakes all over the damn place.

that's why i described it as "chippy" dubstep, in relation to that modern urban music. i think any musical genre can also have their 8-bit counterpart. like the chippy classical music of the old zelda games and the chippy tunes of rag music of mappy and old mario themes. I've heard skrillex music arranged in the mario paint composer, expect no wub wub wub though :| but i thought dubstep and techno are the same thing? i could be wrong :o

Neither Genesis nor SNES music is in MIDI format! Developers had to write their own music routines in assembler to get one single note out of the machines. Today, it's just music streaming.
