This literally opened up a new plotline for the series. The reason the main characters were so buffed up since the first game is because the Contra came from another galaxy and military conducted experiments on their people. Not sure if this is canon

I think Contra: Shattered Soldier mentioned something akin to this. That game said that a mystical relic was stolen from the alien enemies, which is supposedly why they launched an invasion on Earth in the first place. This game is likely a re-imagining/reboot of the Contra storyline, though.

I do recognize that it’s a remake & an Alternate timeline from the original but they put in new touches of the game but do recognize they put past elements in the game. For example, the final stage & Final boss is from Contra 4. Not sure if the Final Boss is the Final Boss from Contra 4 but the Alien does look different from the original. Will get this game when I have the money cause I’d already spent it on Another game.

It does. However, instead of adding thirty lives, it unlocks a secret item in the perk shop and unlocks a secret achievement/trophy called "You Remembered".
